OPELOUSAS, LA–NOVEMBER 18, 2025—The Friday card at Evangeline Downs kicks off at 4:35 PM and will showcase ninety-six juveniles across eleven trial heats, all chasing one of the ten fastest qualifying spots for the G2 $100,000-added Evangeline Downs Futurity on December 20.
A Maverick headlines the group as the top juvenile contender, installed as the 7-5 morning line favorite in the eighth trial. The accomplished gelding has made eight career starts and has finished off the board only once. His résumé includes a victory in the G1 $620,000 TQHA Sale Futurity and a third-place finish in the G2 $422,000 Dash For Cash Futurity, bringing his earnings to $381,510.
Purchased for $24,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale by owner Alfredo Garza Rodriguez, A Maverick is by A Revenant and out of Down Some Gold, a daughter of First Down Dash. Bred in Texas by Triple K Farms, he will break from the outside post eight for trainer Yasmine M. Medina with regular rider Claudio P. Aguilar aboard.
In the tenth trial, Jess a Good Angel stands out as the heavy favorite at 1-1 on the morning line. The colt recently finished third, beaten three-quarters of a length, in the G3 $366,000 Black Gold Futurity. Earlier this season he qualified to the G1 $1 Million Heritage Place Futurity and has amassed $191,220 in earnings for owner Angelica Brizuela.
Sired by Jess Good Candy and out of Sin Tachas Angel by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Jess a Good Angel was bred in Oklahoma by Leonardo Alcala. He will start from post seven for trainer Rene Saias Vidana with jockey Juan Pulido taking the call.
With proven graded stakes performers and emerging young talent spread throughout the program, the ninety-six juveniles are poised to deliver a competitive and action-packed evening as they sprint 400 yards in pursuit of a place in the G2 Evangeline Downs Futurity final.
The Evangeline Downs races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
