MEXICO CITY, MEX–September 27, 2025— A field of 62 juvenile fillies will take center stage this Sunday at Hipódromo de las Américas, competing in the trials for the (G3) $218,138 Mexican Bred Futurity Challenge. Spread across seven heats at 350 yards, the trials will determine the ten fastest qualifiers, who will return on October 19 to contest one of the richest futurity races of the season for Mexican-bred two-year-olds.
Buu enters the trials as the morning-line favorite at 5-2 among the standout entrants. The talented filly has already made a name for herself in Mexico, earning over $74,000 while facing tough competition in several major futurities. She finished second in the (RG2) $288,000 Subasta Selecta Futurity and qualified for both the (RG2) $240,000 Garañones Futurity and the (RG3) $129,000 Mexico Futurity.
Owned by Cuadra San Martín, Buu is trained by Luis Enrique Cruz Solís and will be ridden by Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez from post three in race four. She is sired by Krash Cartel out of Shes Tough Enough, a daughter of Apollitical Jess, and was bred in Mexico by Abelardo Gallegos Fernández.
Another filly drawing attention is Dk Misty Cartel, who lines up in race six. Also owned by Cuadra San Martín and trained by Cruz Solís, this filly has won two of her four starts and finished third in the Subasta Selecta Futurity. She also qualified for the Mexico Futurity, and her career earnings now exceed $65,000.
Bred by Cuadra La Presita, Dk Misty Cartel is a daughter of Danny Cartel and Mingle Tingle, by First Moonflash, and will break from post six under the guidance of Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez
.
In race seven, Dk Candymex looks to make her mark. The filly has proven competitive throughout the season with two victories and a third-place finish in the Garañones Futurity. She also finished third in the Select Auction Futurity Consolation and has earned just over $29,000 for owner Cuadra Alpuyeca.
Trained by Antonio García Carranza, she will break from post seven with Heriberto Camacho aboard. Like Dk Misty Cartel, Dk Candymex is sired by Danny Cartel, and was bred in Mexico by Cuadra La Presita.
All eyes will be on the clock this Sunday, as the sixty-two fillies compete over 350 yards, with only the ten fastest qualifiers advancing to the final on October 19. With a purse of (G3) $218,138, the Mexican Bred Distaff Futurity Finals promises to be one of the most anticipated events of the season for juvenile fillies.
