GRANDPRAIRIE, TX–SEPTEMBER 22, 2025–The Friday night card at Lone Star Park will be highlighted by the (RG3) $50,000-added B.F. Phillips, Jr. Stakes, restricted to Texas-Accredited Breds. A field of nine seasoned runners will contest 400 yards in race nine, with post time scheduled for approximately 9:33 PM.
The 9-5 morning line favorite is Onthrocks, a six-year-old gelding by A Revenant out of Stol a Bunny (by Stoli). Bred in Texas by Ware Racing & Ranching LLC, he has proven himself a consistent graded-level performer, boasting eight wins, five seconds, and six third-place finishes, with earnings of $245,309.
He is owned by Sarah Huskey, trained by Esteban Rubio, and is to be ridden from post six by Eddie Sanchez. Onthrocks will look to use his speed to secure a gate-to-wire victory.
His chief rival is last year’s winner, Hes a Jet One, the 2-1 second choice on the morning line. A five-year-old gelding by Ec Jet One out of Shez Dead Serious (by Swingin Jess), he was bred in Texas by Pete A. Scarmardo, a multiple graded stakes winner.
Hes a Jet One has a proven track record against this level of competition, including having defeated Onthrocks in this very race last year. Trained by John A. Stinebaugh, he will start directly outside the favorite from post seven, with leading rider Ali Rivera aboard.
Ima Chili is the third choice on the morning line, entering off a sharp score in the $58,000 Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes on September 6. The dual-registered runner has now earned $169,162 for owner Darrell L. Hooper.
He was bred in Texas by Sarah Huskey. He is by Chilitos out of Im Not Hillary (by Executive Menace). Conditioned by Zackary N. Rios, he will break from post eight under jockey Nestor Duran, making him a live contender to challenge the top pair.
With proven stakes challengers lining up, the B.F. Phillips, Jr. Stakes promises to deliver another exciting chapter in Texas-Bred racing, with Onthrocks, Hes a Jet One, and Ima Chili setting the stage for a competitive battle.
