SHAKOPEE, MN–JULY 7, 2025–Thursday evening’s race card at Canterbury Park promises fireworks on and off the track, with two significant stakes races highlighting the night: the $57,156 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity in Race 7 and the $50,000 Bob Morehouse Stakes in Race 8. The first post is set for 5:10 PM, and the featured events are scheduled at the heart of the evening card.
The $57,156 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity brings together the ten fastest qualifiers from the June 25 trials, headlined by the unbeaten standout Holliewood, who delivered a commanding two-length victory in her heat and is listed as the 2-1 morning line favorite.
The daughter of Hes Relentless out of Apollitical Mogul (by Apollitical Jess) will break from post six under regular rider Armando Alvidrez. She is owned by Tom and Bill Maher and trained by the always-dangerous Jason L. Olmstead, who has made an emphatic statement with seven qualifiers in the ten-horse final.
Not far behind in the betting is Kyndling, the second-fastest qualifier at 5-2 odds. The Oklahoma-bred filly is by Uncle D out of Requiring Fire (by Walk Thru Fire) and races for breeder/owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC. She will depart from post five with Francisco R. Ramirez, Jr. in the saddle. Kyndling put together her best effort in the trials, winning by a neck.
With the depth of Olmstead’s barn and a group of emerging juvenile stars, the 350-yard sprint is shaping up to be one of the most competitive futurities of the season at Canterbury.
The $50,000 Bob Morehouse Stakes immediately follows, featuring a field of six top Minnesota-bred three-year-olds and upward. Seasoned campaigner Relentless Legacy is leading the way, who draws the outside post and has been installed as the 9-5 morning line favorite.
The six-year-old gelding, a multiple stakes winner with $139,255 in earnings, is by Hes Relentless out of Legacys a Streakin (by Streakin La Jolla). Trained by Jason L. Olmstead, he will again team with jockey Armando Alvidrez, looking to add another win to his already accomplished résumé.
Also trained by Olmstead is the hard-hitting Beep Beep Rev Rev, the highest earner in the field with $205,308 in the bank. The five-year-old mare by A Revenant out of Etta Betta Zoom has been ultra-consistent, winning 10 of 22 starts with five runner-up finishes. She breaks from post two under Ramiro H. Garcia for owner and breeder Summer Run, Inc.
Canterbury Park fans are in for a thrilling evening on Thursday, July 10, as two of the season’s premier Quarter Horse events unfold under the lights, with the first post at 5:10 PM.
