RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 12, 2025–A field of ten promising two-year-olds will clash in the $350,000 Mountain Top QH Futurity (RG2) this Sunday, June 15, at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack & Casino for New Mexico-Bred juveniles.

The 350-yard dash, carded as Race 10 with a scheduled post time of 4:54 PM (MDT), brings together a talented lineup led by the standout morning-line favorite, Jingle Wood.

Jingle Wood, installed at 2-1, delivered a commanding performance in the trials on May 30, surging away to win by two lengths while posting a 90 speed index over a sloppy track.

The gelded son of multiple stakes sire Woodbridge out of the stakes-producing mare Ms Jingles by Bigtime Favorite is trained by Clinton Crawford and will be ridden by Jacob Enriquez.

Jingle Wood races for Downtime Enterprises LLC, Christopher J. Lykins, and Melody Lykins, and was bred in New Mexico by MJ Farms. The $77,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale graduate brings a record of one win, one second, and one third from three starts, including a runner-up finish in the $50,000 New Mexico Spring Fling Stakes in April.

Second choice on the morning line at 7-2 is Mw B Cause Im Sexy, a brown gelding by first-crop sire B Cause Im A Hero out of Uncommonly Sexy by Sixes Royal.

Owned by Larry Marcum and Nancy C. Wells and bred by John W. McClintic, the colt is trained by Wesley T. Giles and will be ridden by Emilio Tapia. Mw B Cause Im Sexy enters off a solid trial win where he drew off to win by a length with an 88 speed index. That performance came in his second career start, following a solid showing in maiden company at Los Alamitos.

Rounding out the top three morning-line choices is Docs Best Answer at 9-2. The filly turned in a sharp debut effort in her trial, leading gate-to-wire and posting an 87 speed index—the third-fastest qualifying time.

Trained by Xavier E. Rodriguez and ridden by Luis Martinez, Docs Best Answer is owned by La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC and was bred in New Mexico by William Robertson. A $30,000 purchase from the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale, she is by multiple stakes sire Docs Best Card out of Theyre Be An Answer, a daughter of Apollitical Jess.

The 2025 renewal of the Mountain Top Futurity shapes up as a pivotal race in the New Mexico-bred juvenile division, with Jingle Wood seeking to affirm his status and a host of talented rivals eager to make their mark.

You Just Got Mooned Heads Competitive Field in $50,000 Mountain Top QH Juvenile

A field of ten promising New Mexico-bred juveniles will square off in Sunday’s $50,000 Mountain Top QH Juvenile Stakes at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack & Casino, scheduled as Race 9 with an approximate post time of 4:28 PM (MDT).

The 350-yard dash serves as a companion race to the Mountain Top QH Futurity, open to the ten fastest non-qualifiers from the trials held May 30.

Among a competitive lineup, the spotlight shines brightest on the 5-2 morning-line favorite You Just Got Mooned, who will break from the rail under jockey Luis Martinez for trainer Xavier E. Rodriguez and owner/breeder La Feliz Montana Ranch, LLC.

The gelded son of multiple stakes sire Suspicious Interest out of Cartels Moon by First Moonflash comes off a game third-place finish in his trial, showing late interest despite being no match for the top pair.

He has hit the board in both career starts and boasts a top Speed Index of 86. You Just Got Mooned was bred in New Mexico and is racing for his owner-breeder connections.

The main threat comes from the outside post 9 in Dyna Mo Chimes (7-2), trained by Eric Valenzuela and ridden by Luis A. Flores-Garcia. The daughter of Rime Chimes out of Dyna Mo Rime by Major Rime is co-owned by Tungsten Racing Partnership and breeder Carlos F. Paez.

After a rough trip in the New Mexico Spring Fling Futurity, she rebounded impressively in her Mountain Top trial, accelerating sharply to win by daylight with a 81 Speed Index over a sloppy surface. That performance suggests she's peaking at the right time.

Another contender with proven form is Eyekonic (9-2), representing the barn of James J. Gonzales III for owner Jose A. Carreon. The son of Eye Am King and the Special Leader mare Katies Wildn Special was a sharp winner of his trial, posting an 80 Speed Index while drawing off to a convincing victory.

Bred by Michelle Alley, Eyekonic was purchased for $15,000 at the Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale and will be ridden by Christian Cardenas. The gelding has a win and two fourths from three lifetime starts and appears well-drawn in post six.
