GRANDPRAIRIE, TX–SEPTEMBER 22, 2025–Saturday night’s feature at Lone Star Park will be the $28,611 guaranteed Cox Ranch Lone Star Park Distaff Challenge Stakes, carded as race three. The event draws a competitive field of fillies and mares three years old and upward, all set to contest the 400-yard distance.

In addition to the purse, the winner will earn a berth to the Cox Ranch Distaff Championship Challenge Stakes finals on October 18 at Albuquerque Downs.

The 9-5 morning line favorite is Cowgurl Up, a four-year-old mare by Flying Cowboy 123 out of Passem Up Perry (Mr Jess Perry). Bred in Texas by her owners, P & J Racing, Ltd., she was repurchased from the TQHA Yearling Sale for $95,000.

A proven stakes competitor, Cowgurl Up captured the $57,000 Miss Retama Stakes on July 25 and now owns four wins from nine career starts with earnings of $78,534. She will leave from post three for trainer Carlos Cruz Lopez with Raul P. Hernandez, Jr. aboard.

The second choice on the morning line is Eyesa Wagon My Tale (3-1), a three-year-old filly by Wagon Tales out of Eyesa Candy Chick (Country Chicks Man), bred in Oklahoma by Randy & Stacy Hill.

She began her sophomore campaign qualifying for the $161,000 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Oaks, then returned to capture the (RG3) $50,000 Jack Brooks Stakes. Unraced since that May victory, she has been freshened for this spot by champion trainer Marc E. Jungers. Francisco Calderon will guide her from post five.

The one to watch is Fabulous Casina, riding a three-race win streak and breaking from the inside rail. The three-year-old daughter of One Fabulous Eagle out of Bm Casina Royale (Pyc Paint Your Wagon) has been a model of consistency, winning four of five starts in her sophomore season, including the TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes, La Villita Stakes, and a sharp allowance score.

Bred in Texas by Bobby Myers, she was a $14,000 TQHA Yearling Sale purchase by Thomas D. Tiller and has already earned $95,043. Brittany N. Tellez will saddle her, with Froylan T. Ramirez taking the mount.

With six talented mares lined up, Saturday’s Cox Ranch Distaff Challenge promises a competitive battle, where the prize is the purse and a coveted spot in the $100,000-added Cox Ranch Distaff Championship Challenge (G1) next month.

The Lone Star Park Races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
