Flashin Dynamite Prevails in $48,807 Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 17, 2025—Flashin Dynamite fought gamely through the stretch to capture the $48,807 Adequan Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge on Sunday afternoon at Prairie Meadows, edging clear by a neck at the wire in the 400-yard test for AQHA Challenge-enrolled 3-year-olds.

With Alfredo Triana Jr. aboard, the chestnut filly stopped the clock in 20.152 seconds over a fast track with a 5-mph headwind.

Bred in Oklahoma by Wallace Johnson, Flashin Dynamite is a daughter of First Moonflash out of Swingin Cartel, by Corona Cartel. The filly was a $30,000 purchase at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, and races for owner David P. Morehead under the care of trainer Manuel Campos.

Sunday’s victory was worth $22,939 to her connections and earned Flashin Dynamite a berth in the $165,000-est. Adequan Derby Challenge Championship (G3) on October 18 at The Downs at Albuquerque as part of AQHA Challenge Championship Night. She has compiled a (10) 4-2-2 record and banked $93,703.

Runner-up Rockin The Train, a bay gelding by multiple stakes sire Bp Wagon Train out of Rock Solid Jet by Rock Solid Jess, was bred and is owned by Debra M. Gotovac of Texas. Conditioned by Brad Bolen and ridden by Alejandro Medina, Rockin the Train finished just a half-length behind the winner, collecting $9,761 for his effort. Last year's John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile winner has earned $72,896.

Closing strongly for third was longshot Kvn Good One, a bay gelding by champion Kvn Corona out of Eyesa Good One by First Down Dash. Bred in Arizona by H & E Ranch Inc., he races for owner-trainer Fernando Manriquez, with Jorge Torres in the irons. A $21,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, Kvn Good One earned $4,881 to bring his earnings mark to $39,120.

Apollitical King (4th), Catchn Southern Rays (5th), Fancys Prize Corona (6th), The Criminal (7th), Braven (8th), and Party On the Moon (9th) completed the field.

Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $16.20 to win, $7.20 to place, and $5.60 to show on Flashin Dynamite. Rockin the Train paid $10.40 to place and $6.20 to show, while Kvn Good One returned $19.00 to show.
