SHAKOPEE, MN–JULY 21, 2025–Thursday evening’s feature at Canterbury Park puts the spotlight squarely on the ladies as the Grade 3 Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge assembles a sharp field of seven AQHA Challenge-enrolled fillies and mares, three years old and up. With a 400-yard dash on tap and a $30,000-added purse, the stakes are high—not only for the money but for a coveted berth in the Distaff Challenge Championship final at the Downs at Albuquerque on October 18.
Headlining the field as the 2-1 morning line favorite is Bv Miss Mona, a consistent four-year-old mare bred in Oklahoma by Bella Vista Farms, LLC. By Dash Master Jess and out of Bv Valentine (by Pyc Paint Your Wagon), Bv Miss Mona enters Thursday’s race off a neck victory at Remington Park on May 18. Trained by Ramon Mendoza for owners Nathali Grijlva and Elizabeth & Samuel Mendoza, she’s compiled a record of 19 starts, 3 wins, 2 seconds, and 3 thirds for career earnings of $63,576. Edwin G. Escobedo gets the call and will guide her from post position three.
Looking to reclaim her winning stride is the experienced and accomplished Beep Beep Rev Rev, a five-year-old mare by A Revenant. Trained by Jason Olmstead for breeder/owner Summer Run Inc., she enters off a solid third-place finish in the Bob Morehouse Stakes. Her resume includes 10 wins from 23 starts and over $208,000 in earnings, making her the richest runner in the field. With Ramiro H. Garcia in the irons, she’ll launch her bid from post two.
Veteran conditioner Edward Ross Hardy will tighten the girth on three contenders Foxy Cowgirl, Eos Keep Dreamin, and Famous Tools. Hardy’s trio brings a blend of experience and potential, each hoping to capitalize on the opportunity to punch their ticket to Albuquerque.
Five Bar Fantasy and Sendmecandandarose round out the field. Both bring solid credentials and will be looking to make their mark in this competitive race.
With proven class, up-and-coming talent, and championship implications on the line, Thursday’s Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge promises a thrilling evening of racing and a pivotal step toward the national spotlight in the AQHA Challenge Championship finals.
