Jess No Secrets Tops Q-Racing Video Distance Challenge Qualifiers at Wyoming Downs

EVANSTON, WY– JUNE 28, 2025–Two 870-yard trials for the $25,000-added Q-Racing Video Wyoming Downs Distance Challenge were held June 28 at Wyoming Downs to determine qualifiers for the July 12 final. The winner of the final will earn a berth in the Grade 1 Q-Racing Video Distance Challenge Championship on October 18 at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Jess No Secrets secured the top position among qualifiers after a close finish in the second of two trials. The six-year-old gelding made a strong late surge under jockey Jimmy Ray Coates to narrowly defeat post-time favorite Sassquach by a neck. He recorded the fastest qualifying time of 45.117 seconds and achieved a speed index of 101.

This marks his first win of the 2025 season for Jess No Secrets, following a fourth-place finish in the Campbell County Hook Overnight Stakes on June 13. With seven wins from 20 starts, the son of No Secrets Here has banked $68,051. He closed his 2024 campaign with a victory in the Rocky Mountain Championship Stakes.

Jess No Secrets earned $3,300 for the trial win, paying $10.80 on a $2.00 wager. Owned and bred by Ross V. Alire of Colorado, he is out of Jess Breeze, a daughter of Feature Mr Jess.

Sassquach, a four-year-old gelding by Jess Good Candy, posted the second-fastest time of 45.148 under jockey Eric Ayala. The trial effort brought his record to two wins and two seconds from nine starts with $15,718 in earnings. He finished fourth in this year’s Maiden Frolic Stakes at Weber Downs.

Trained by Jarrett Mills for owners/breeders Eric Blackner and CG Racing LLC, Sassquach was bred in Idaho out of Quartertimereaction, by Apollo (TB).

Baby I Du turned in a commanding performance in the first trial, winning by 3 3/4-lengths under jockey Jacob Cardenas. The five-year-old gelding stopped the clock in 45.370, securing the third-fastest qualifying time and a 98 speed index.

Trained by Jess R. Matt for owners Daisy Carlson and Joe Goggins, Baby I Du earned $3.600 for the trial win and now boasts a career record of 6-9-1 from 24 starts with $93,148 in earnings.

His stakes resume includes wins in the BHS Futurity, Energy Downs 307 Open Futurity, and Golden Triangle Roe River Stakes. He entered the trials off a second-place finish in the Campbell County Hook Overnight Stakes on June 13.

Baby I Du was bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch LLC out of Lil Baby Eagle by One Famous Eagle. The son of Duponte sold for $18,000 in the 2021 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
