Despite the cancellation of live racing because of weather, fans can still attend the free Camel, Ostrich & Zebra Meet & Greet beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Retama Park.

SELMA, TX—JULY 16, 2026—Retama Park announced this afternoon that they have decided to canceled their live Quarter Horse racing program scheduled for Thursday evening due to weather.

Track officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of the horses and jockeys.Although racing has been canceled, the Camel, Ostrich & Zebra Meet & Greet will still take place as scheduled.

The event is free to attend, with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to get up close with the exotic animals before they appear during the remainder of the weekend's festivities.

Retama Park is expected to resume its scheduled weekend racing and exotic animal exhibitions on Friday and Saturday, weather permitting.
