ALEXANDRIA, LA–MARCH 25, 2026–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association board of directors convened Tuesday, March 24, for its annual meeting, where the state’s top performers of 2025 were officially recognized, highlighted by a dominant season from its leading money earner and strength across every division.

Headlining the honorees was multiple Grade 1 winner Rf Fast Dash N Blood ($1,181,189), who not only secured Champion 2-Year-Old Gelding honors but also topped all earners in the state. The Jaime Cardenas-owned gelding delivered a powerhouse season, sweeping four major futurities, including the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (G1), LQHBA Sale Futurity (G1), Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity (G1), and Louisiana Bred Laddie Futurity (G2), establishing himself as the clear leader of the division.

Cardenas doubled down on the juvenile awards as owner of Marcy Train B ($201,842), the Champion 2-Year-Old Filly. She secured wins in the Louisiana Bred Lassie Futurity (G2) and the LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes, and was a finalist in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (G1).

Champion 2-Year-Old Colt honors went to Zactex Blood ($70,955), who compiled a consistent record with five top-three finishes from eight starts.

Among the 3-year-olds, San Lorenzo Chrome ($541,219) was named Champion 3-Year-Old Colt, adding the LQHBA Breeders Derby (G3) to a resume that already included a Louisiana Million Futurity (G1) victory from 2024.

Gold Gun Z ($339,494) earned Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding honors following his win in the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby (G3), while One Sweet Tsunami ($90,717) took the Champion 3-Year-Old Filly title after capturing the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks (G3).

The older divisions were led by Pk Pure Rogue ($356,135), whose steady string of stakes victories and placings earned him Champion Aged Gelding honors. Rogue Fast Dash ($237,132) was named Champion Aged Mare, highlighted by her win in the Louisiana Champions Day Classic Stakes (G2), while Full Vision ($83,072) secured Champion Aged Stallion honors.

Distance specialist Explosive Legend ($134,958) earned Champion Distance Horse after a productive season that included wins in the Lip Chip LLC Stakes and Live Oak Stakes.

In the breeding ranks, Freighttrain B was recognized as Champion Stallion, continuing to solidify his impact as a leading sire in Louisiana after siring multiple champions, including San Lorenzo Chrome and Marcy Train B. Fast Dash N Deb earned Champion Broodmare honors as the dam of Rf Fast Dash N Blood.

On the human side, David Bustamante was honored as Champion Trainer after a productive season highlighted by more than $600,000 in yearly earnings, while Jorge Garcia secured Champion Jockey honors with over $2.4 million in 2025 purse earnings and a top-10 national ranking. Rogers Farm, led by Tim and Jennie Rogers, was recognized as Champion Breeder, and Jaime Cardenas capped a banner year as Champion Owner.

The association also used the occasion to announce its 2026 Hall of Fame class, honoring two figures who left lasting marks on Louisiana racing in very different ways.

Rodney Verret is recognized for a lifetime of influence that extended well beyond the saddle barn, shaping the industry through ownership, racetrack development, and leadership roles, including his tenure as LQHBA president, while earning deep respect across the horsemen’s community. Jls Mr Bigtime, whose on-track accomplishments elevated Louisiana-bred racing nationally, highlighted by more than $1 million in earnings, multiple track records, championship credentials, and a strong showing on the sport’s biggest stage, cementing his legacy among the program’s elite performers.
