EDMOND, OK–JANUARY 6, 2025– The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association (OQHRA) is accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Program, which supports students pursuing careers in the Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, and broader equine industries. Completed applications must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2026.

The annual scholarship program is open to applicants from any U.S. state and does not require membership in an equine association. Eligible candidates include graduating high school seniors, current college students, and students accepted into veterinary school for the Fall 2026 semester. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university and provide proof of enrollment prior to the disbursement of funds.

The OQHRA Scholarship is designed for students planning careers within the equine industry, including but not limited to training, veterinary medicine, breeding, farm or track management, marketing, diagnostics, journalism, and research. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents and in good standing with local, state, and federal laws.

Required application materials include a completed application form, a typed letter of introduction, three letters of reference, one from a teacher or school administrator and at least one from a professional member of the equine industry, certified transcripts, a single-page essay titled “Why I Want To Be Part of the Equine Industry and What I Hope to Accomplish,” and a recent color head-and-shoulders photograph for publication purposes. Optional documentation of activities and awards may also be submitted.

Scholarship funds are administered and disbursed by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association Scholarship Fund. Applicants who postpone enrollment for Fall 2026 must notify OQHRA to avoid forfeiture of the award.

Additional information and application materials are available through the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association. For questions, contact Courtney at (405) 216-0440 or courtney.b@oqhra.
