Maria Belen Meras of TRACK Magazine Passes Away at 70

MORGAN MILL, TX–NOVEMBER 26, 2026–Maria Belen Meras, 70, a dedicated and beloved member of the TRACK Magazine team for 15 years, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on November 25 at her home in Stephenville, Texas.

Maria’s role at TRACK Magazine was as multifaceted as it was vital. She answered phones, processed billing, made bank deposits, managed circulation, and represented the magazine at yearling sales, where she tracked and compiled results. As the magazine’s chief proofreader, Maria was an integral part of its day-to-day operations.

“Maria did whatever we asked of her, often without hesitation,” said Ben Hudson, owner of TRACK Magazine. “Just earlier this week, she made an adjustment to my computer. I told her, ‘Maria, I don’t know how we ever got along without you.’” Hudson added, “TRACK Magazine will never be the same without her. She was a good woman, with a wide circle of friends, and we will all miss her dearly.”

Before joining TRACK Magazine, Maria served as the parent-teacher liaison director for the Stephenville Independent School District, where her passion for education and community service made a lasting impact. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored as Erath County Woman of the Year.

Maria is survived by her son, Nicasio Meras of Stephenville; her daughter and son-in-law, Tim and Talia Gaston, and their children, Trey and Tate, of McKinney, Texas.

Arrangements for a Celebration of Life Service are pending.
