ALEXANDRIA, LA—NOVEMBER 24, 2025—Nominations are now open for the 2025 edition of Louisiana Champions Day, which will be contested Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Opelousas. The annual program will once again feature three stakes for Accredited Louisiana-Bred Quarter Horses, each offering a $100,000 guaranteed purse.
Nominations MUST BE RECEIVED in the LQHBA office by Monday, December 1, 2025 with a Nomination Fee of $400.
All nominees are required to undergo hair testing on December 1. Horsemen should schedule hair-test appointments directly through the Evangeline Downs racing office.
ENTRY FEE of $600 must be on deposit with the Evangeline Downs Horsemen’s Bookkeeper PRIOR to entry on December 12, 2025.
The Louisiana Champions Day lineup includes:
> $100,000 RG2 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile — 350 yards
2-year-olds
> $100,000 RG3 Louisiana Champions Day Derby — 400 yards
3-year-olds
> $100,000 RG2 Louisiana Champions Day Classic — 440 yards
4-year-olds & up
Each race will distribute purse money as follows: 45% to the winner; 17% to second; 10% to third; 7% to fourth; 6% to fifth; 5% to sixth; 4% to seventh; 3% to eighth; 2% to ninth; and 1% to tenth. LQHBA will deduct the standard 6% administrative fee from each purse.

If a horse does not draw into its race, all nomination and entry fees will be refunded.
Race preference will be determined by 2025 earnings through December 1, 2025, as verified by the American Quarter Horse Association. LQHBA will publish the list of nominees and their earnings on Friday, December 5.
Louisiana Champions Day continues to serve as one of the premier Quarter Horse events in the state, showcasing the strength of the Louisiana breeding program with three lucrative year-end stakes.
