TQHA Issues Reminder on Stallion Auction, Futurity Payments, and Accreditation Deadlines

ELGIN, TX—NOVEMBER 24, 2025—The Texas Quarter Horse Association is reminding breeders and owners of several key dates approaching as preparations continue for the 2026 racing season, including the opening of the annual TQHA Stallion Auction and important futurity and accreditation deadlines.

The 2026 TQHA Stallion Auction will open December 1, 2025, and close at noon on January 8, 2026. More than 110 stallions have already been consigned, featuring a strong mix of proven sires of champion runners along with an array of promising young stallions.

The auction is conducted entirely online, and participants can view the full list of stallions by visiting the official auction website and selecting the “Click For Race Horse Auction” option.

Mobile users are advised that the page may not visibly change after clicking, but scrolling down will reveal the complete stallion lineup. TQHA officials encourage bidders to revisit the site often, as new stallions continue to be added. They also emphasize the importance of clicking on each horse’s name to review any restrictions or additional fees—such as farm or collection charges—that are not covered by the winning bid.

The next payment for the 2026 TQHA Sale Futurity is due on or before December 1. The regular payment is $500; however, owners who did not make the initial nomination may be late nominated by the same date, with a payment of $1,500. Meanwhile, the 2026 Texas Breeders Futurity has a payment deadline of December 15, requiring a $500 payment for enrolled horses.

Late nominations will also be accepted through December 15 for $2,500. TQHA officials stated that the list of horses that completed the November 15 payment will be posted soon, and reminder notices will be issued within the next few days.

Breeders are also reminded to complete accreditation for 2024 foals and for broodmares in foal and expected to foal in Texas in 2026 by December 31.

The fee to accredit yearlings increases from $100 to $500 after that date. Broodmares not accredited by the deadline will make their 2026 foals ineligible for breeder awards. Broodmares only require accreditation once, so no further action is needed for mares already accredited as Texas-bred.

Finally, TQHA encourages owners who have accredited yearlings or weanlings without registration papers to submit those papers for stamping. Doing so ensures the horse’s name is recorded in the system, preventing any loss of eligibility for potential owner, breeder, or stallion awards.
