ASHLAND, KY–NOVEMBER 1, 2025–Revolutionary Racing Kentucky LLC (RRKY), owner and operator of Sandy’s Racing & Gaming and the newly constructed Sandy Ridge Racetrack located at 10775 US 60, Ashland, KY 41102, announced today that the Kentucky Gaming & Racing Corporation (KGRC) has officially awarded RRKY its 2026 Quarter Horse race dates.

In partnership with the Kentucky Quarter Horse Racing Association (KYQHRA), RRKY will host Kentucky’s first-ever dedicated Quarter Horse race meet, taking place at Sandy Ridge Racetrack in Boyd County. The track sits adjacent to Sandy’s Racing & Gaming — Eastern Kentucky’s premier entertainment and Historical Horse Racing (HHR) destination.

The inaugural meet will feature eight race days on the following dates: August 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 & 28, 2026 and September 4 & 5, 2026

Each race day will offer approximately $250,000 in total purses, delivering world-class competitive opportunities for Quarter Horse owners, trainers, and fans across the United States.

“We are excited to add another breed of horse racing to the greatest horse racing Commonwealth in the Union,” said Prentice M. Salter, CEO of Revolutionary Racing Kentucky. “We look forward to hosting thousands of fans in Boyd County next summer and providing a world-class, state-of-the-art, and safe Quarter Horse racing experience throughout our inaugural 2026 meet.”

Larry Lucas, Chairman of RRKY, added: “RRKY would like to thank the Kentucky Gaming & Racing Corporation, Governor Andy Beshear, the Governor’s Senior Advisor Rocky Adkins, and Boyd County Judge-Executive Eric Chaney for supporting RRKY in our investment to date of $120-plus million in Boyd County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

Christina Sowders, President of the Kentucky Quarter Horse Racing Association, shared: “We are thrilled to be racing in Ashland next year! Quarter Horse racing is so exciting, and we look forward to bringing horse racing to the Ashland area. We plan on 3 million in purse money with the addition of Derby and Futurity races.”

RRKY’s expansion continues to strengthen the region’s equine economy, tourism, job creation, and entertainment industry — marking a major milestone for Eastern Kentucky and its racing future.
