OQHRA Announces 2026 Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Racing Season

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–SEPTEMBER 26, 2025–The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association has released the official schedule and program details for the 2026 Quarter Horse, Paint, and Appaloosa racing season. The season will begin March 5, 2026, at Remington Park in Oklahoma City and conclude November 18, 2026, at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore.

Across the three racetracks, horsemen will have access to over 10,000 racing opportunities and compete for over $20 million in purses, with 65% of those funds dedicated to overnight races.

Remington Park: March 5 – May 30 (50 days)

Remington Park will open the season with a 50-day spring meet featuring 41 stakes races, more than $3 million in added money, and over $7 million in overnight purses.

Key Quarter Horse programs include:

Oklahoma Futurity, Derby & Juvenile: The nation’s oldest continually run futurity and its companion races will be run in March with $250,000 added. Payments begin October 15, 2025, at $500 monthly through February, or a one-time discounted payment option in October. Click for Nomination Forms.

Fair Meadows: June 3 – July 18 (27 days)

The summer meet at Fair Meadows in Tulsa will run 27 days, offering nearly $2 million in purses. This meet plays a crucial role in the state’s racing economy. Revenues generated from the tribal gaming compact tied to Fair Meadows directly support purses at both Fair Meadows and Will Rogers Downs.

New for 2026, each Quarter Horse overnight stakes race at Fair Meadows will receive a $10,000 purse increase, providing additional opportunities and incentives for horsemen.

Recent facility improvements and track renovations have enhanced Fair Meadows as an attractive venue for horsemen and fans alike and should not be overlooked when making summer racing plans.

Will Rogers Downs: September 14 – November 18 (28 days)

The fall meet at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore will cover 28 days and feature more than $5 million in purses.

Highlight races include:

Black Gold Program: For foals of nominated stallions, the Black Gold series is divided into two divisions, giving fillies the opportunity to run separately. The fillies’ division continues to be the richest race for 2-year-old fillies in the nation. Click here for the Nomination Forms.

Mystery Futurity and Derby: A unique Oklahoma-bred program where owners purchase a berth without naming the horse until closer to the race. The Mystery races carry $100,000 added. Berths will go on sale January 15, 2026. Click here for the Nomination Form.

New for 2026 – Will Rogers Oaks: Open to all 3-year-old fillies, this race will be run in October with $50,000 added. Nomination payments begin in April, with multiple opportunities to enter throughout the year. Nomination Form is located here
