The New Mexico Horse Breeders Association reminds everyone that Broodmare registrations are due September 1.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM–AUGUST 25, 2025–The New Mexico Horse Breeders’ Association reminds horsemen that the broodmare registration deadline is September 1.

Penalties will apply to foals after the deadline. NM-bred racehorses are not automatically registered as broodmares.

A mare is registered for life once she is entered into the NM Permanent Broodmare Registry. To verify if a mare is already registered, call the NMHBA office or search under the Horse Directory at nmhorsebreeders.com.

For embryo transfer and ICSI, donor mares and recipient mares must both be registered by September 1 of the year they are bred if not already in the NMHBA Permanent Broodmare Registry. Penalties will be applied to all foals if requirements are not met.
