Sharing the card with the All American Oaks (G1), the Derby trials went off as races five through ten. The classic Grade 1 event will be contested at 440 yards as part of the rich Labor Day card at The Downs at Albuquerque and saw multiple millionaires contest the quarter-of-a-mile trials in the attempt to qualify as one of the top 10-fastest of the day.

A full afternoon of six trials for the $1,077,461 All American Derby (G1) unfolded The Downs at Albuquerque on Wednesday, producing a field of ten standout 3-year-olds who will return on Labor Day—Monday, September 1—to compete for the winner’s share of $452,533.

The restricted Grade 1 classic drew a high class group of sophomores, and House Of Lords emerged as the fastest qualifier in the fourth trial. The $65,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate stopped the clock in 20.789 seconds, earning a 107 speed index with a 1¾-length victory under champion jockey Francisco Calderon. Trained by Victor H. Rodriguez-Flores, the son of Flying Cowboy 123 was bred in Oklahoma by Buck Way Ranch LLC.
