On the second day of the 42nd Subasta Selecta Yearling Sale , several horses sustained the interest of the attending crowd, which was larger than the previous day's turnout.

The top bid went to the sorrel colt bearing hip number 296, TAKIN STORM DASH, at 1,100,000 pesos (approximately $63,628 USD); he was bought back by his breeder and consignor, Luis Arturo Vázquez Solórzano.

He is a son of the stakes-placed Red Storm Cat—a winner of $226,429 and sire of multiple stakes winners. His dam is the mare Takin Cash Slc (by Takin On The Cash), a proven producer whose offspring include Senor Cawboy, Gato Mexicano, and Red Storm Cash.

PRINCESA DOCTORA (hip #189) commanded the second-highest price, reaching 690,000 pesos (approximately $39,912 USD). Bred and consigned by Armando León Bejarano, she is the product of a cross between the sire Dr Jess Perry and the mare Princesa Bury Bu (by One Dashing Eagle). Bred to Danny Cartel, this mare previously produced Princesa Bury—a Champion Two-Year-Old in Mexico—who went on to win the Derby México, the Derby Desafío Crianza Mexicana, and the Derby Criadores Mexicanos during her three-year-old campaign, amassing $244,560 in earnings.

Princesa Doctora is a full sister to Doctora Bury Bu, a winner of $67,024 in Mexico.

Rounding out the top three bids of the day was the sorrel colt DR HOUSTON (hip #314), at 630,000 pesos (approximately $36,441 USD). Bred by his consignor, René Camacho, he is the result of a cross between the sire Zulu Dragon and the mare Till Then (by One Famous Eagle). A stakes winner with earnings of $181,009, Zulu Dragon earned the titles of Superior Race Horse and New Mexico Hi-Point Aged Stallion. As a sire, his offspring have amassed over $3.3 million in earnings, including Running Dragon—a winner of $702,217, a Superior Race Horse, New Mexico Three-Year-Old Filly, and AQHA Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.

His maternal line benefits from the strong genetic influence of Bye Bye Baby Goodbye; she hails from a family with a distinguished racing record and has herself excelled as a broodmare, producing notable offspring such as Blue Corazón, Sumokin, and Twisted Sifter, among others.

The auction concludes today, Saturday, August 22, with the final group of yearlings—numbered 318 through 475—starting at 6:00 p.m. This event serves as a prelude to the Quarter Horse Breeders' Cup (Copa Criadores Cuarto de Milla), taking place tomorrow, Sunday, at the Las Américas Racetrack; the program features 10 races honoring breeders of the breed, headlined by the Auction Futurity final. – RG2.
