MAKELOTSAMONEY TOPS LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE AT $190,000 ON DAY 2

CYPRESS, CA—October 4, 2026

The 2026 Los Alamitos Equine Sale concluded Sunday in Cypress with preliminary receipts of $4,321,600 from 144 horses sold during the two-day mixed sale.

A total of 194 horses were offered this year, with 144 selling, 50 reported as RNA and 24 listed as out. The preliminary average was $30,011, and the median was $16,750.

Yearlings accounted for the overwhelming majority of the 2026 Los Alamitos Equine Sale receipts. Of 185 yearlings offered, 135 sold for $4,216,600, an average of $31,234 and a median of $17,500, while 50 were reported as RNAs.

The broodmare portion of the sale saw all nine mares offered change hands, generating $105,000 in gross receipts for an average of $11,667 and a $9,000 median.

“We are thankful to our buyers and consignors for their outstanding support each year,” said Dino Perez, Executive Director of the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Association, the managing company of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. “We had unseasonably hot weather for this time of the year, so we are very grateful that we still had a great crowd full of enthusiastic buyers.”

The sale's leading price came Sunday when Makellotsamoney, a yearling filly by Favorite Cartel out of the Stel Corona mare Quirky, brought $190,000. Tungsten Racing Partnership/El Ranch 48 purchased Hip 165 from Burns Ranch, Agent.

Hip 125, Ellery Of London, was the second-highest seller at $145,000. Jose Flores Agent purchased the Favorite Cartel colt from Edward C. Allred. The yearling is out of London Laura, by Walk Thru Fire.

Two yearlings tied at $130,000. Juniors Quarter Horses, Inc. purchased Hip 180, So Does He, a Golden Boi colt out of She Goes Up, by Seperate Interest, from Edward C. Allred.

Hip 186, Mortal Combat, also brought $130,000. J. Francisco Diaz and Rodrigo Gonzalez purchased the Favorite Cartel colt from Burns Ranch, Agent. He is out of Silver Bac, by Seperate Interest.

Gamaliel Garza was the sale's leading buyer by gross purchases, acquiring six horses for $491,000. Jose Flores Agent purchased eight for $463,500, while Tungsten Racing Partnership/El Ranch 48 paid $190,000 for its lone purchase.

Burns Ranch, Agent, topped the consignor standings with 55 head totaling $2,089,200. Edward C. Allred followed with 31 totaling $753,000, and Rancho El Cabresto Inc. had nine totaling $645,000.

Among sires with two or more sold, Apollitical Jess led by average with five averaging $92,600 and grossing $463,000. Favorite Cartel had 26 sell for $1,479,500, an average of $56,904, while Foose had two average $46,500 on gross receipts of $93,000.

Among broodmare sires with two or more sold, Stel Corona led by average at $100,000. Splash Bac was next at $69,000, followed by Seperate Interest, whose 10 representatives averaged $55,800.
