OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—November 7, 2026
The 49th annual Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale concluded its three-day run Saturday in Oklahoma City with gross receipts of $10,168,700, an increase of 15.7 percent over last year's sale, as buyers purchased 592 horses during the November 5-7 auction.
The 2026 sale recorded an increase of $1,378,300 in total sales compared to the $8,790,400 generated during the October 30-November 1, 2025, auction. The number of horses sold climbed from 503 last year to 592 this year, an increase of 89 head, or 17.7 percent.
Despite the significant increase in gross receipts, the overall average declined slightly from $17,476 in 2025 to $17,177 this year, a decrease of $299, or 1.7 percent. The median, however, improved from $9,500 to $10,000, representing a 5.3 percent increase.
The sale also demonstrated stronger buyer participation, with 592 of 677 horses offered finding new owners, producing an 87.4 percent clearance rate. That compared favorably to the 83.6 percent clearance rate in 2025, when 503 of 602 horses offered were sold.
Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Saturday's closing session provided a strong finish to the three-day auction.
"Day 3 of the 49th Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale concluded with an average sales price of $17,505, up 13% over the same day last year, and 91% of the horses offered today were marked as sold," Kidney said.
"The overall average on horses sold is very comparable to 2025, with a clearance rate of 87% for the entire sale."
Repurchases declined from 99 in 2025 to 85 this year, while withdrawals remained relatively consistent at 139, up from 137 last year.
The improved clearance rate, higher median, and increased number of horses sold helped push the 2026 auction past the $10 million mark despite the modest decline in average price.
Paint Me A Sinner Tops Saturday's Final Session at $190,000
Paint Me A Sinner, a 10-year-old daughter of PYC Paint Your Wagon, commanded $190,000 to lead Saturday's closing session.
Cataloged as Hip 707, the mare is out of Shades Of Sin Tacha, by First Down Dash. MJ Farms signed the ticket for the mare, who was consigned by Bobby D. Cox.
Ultimate Battle, a 4-year-old colt by Favorite Cartel, brought the session's second-highest price of $180,000. Cataloged as Hip 689, the colt is out of Just Walk By, by Walk Thru Fire.
Lisa Whittenburg purchased Ultimate Battle from the consignment of Lazy E Ranch LLC, agent for Buck Way Ranch LLC.
The third-highest seller Saturday was BP Apollitical South, a 9-year-old daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess, who brought $90,000 from Rancho La Cobra.
Cataloged as Hip 688, BP Apollitical South is out of BP Shes Southern, by Southern Cartel. Dunn Ranch, agent for the Bill Price Complete Dispersal, consigned the mare.
The three highest-priced horses Saturday combined for $460,000 in sales.
Bill Price Dispersal Leads Consignors
The Bill Price Complete Dispersal, handled by Dunn Ranch, led all consignments during the three-day auction, generating $1,377,200 from 42 horses sold.
Bobby D. Cox ranked second among consignors with 26 horses bringing a combined $717,400.
Lazy E Ranch LLC, Agent, completed the top three consignors with 24 horses sold for $440,000.
Together, the three leading consignments accounted for $2,534,600 in sales, representing approximately 24.9 percent of the auction's total gross.
Tabasco Racing Heads Leading Buyers
Tabasco Racing LLC topped the leading buyers list with 13 purchases totaling $313,000 during the three-day auction.
Rachuan Suarez MVZ was the second-leading buyer, also purchasing 13 horses for a combined $293,500.
LA Racing Stables LLC completed the top three buyers, acquiring 13 horses for $235,400.
The three leading buyers collectively purchased 39 horses for $841,900.
Tempting Dash Leads Sire Averages; Flying Cowboy 123 Tops Gross
Tempting Dash led all sires by average sale price among stallions with at least two offspring sold. Five of his offspring averaged $49,200, generating total receipts of $246,000.
Chilitos ranked second with three offspring averaging $45,667 and grossing $137,000.
Flying Cowboy 123 followed in third with 21 offspring averaging $41,248, producing an impressive $866,200 in total sales.
While Tempting Dash led the average-price rankings, Flying Cowboy 123 generated the largest gross among the three leading sires, reflecting strong demand for his offspring across a larger group of horses sold.
Take Off Jess Tops Leading Maternal Grandsires
Take Off Jess led the maternal grandsire rankings by average sale price among sires represented by at least two horses sold.
Three horses out of daughters of Take Off Jess averaged $90,667, generating $272,000 in total receipts.
Dash Ta Fame ranked second with four horses averaging $44,625 and grossing $178,500.
Country Chicks Man followed with two horses averaging $42,000, totaling $84,000.
FDD Dynasty completed the top four with eight horses averaging $36,750 and generating $294,000, the highest total gross among the four listed maternal grandsires.
Tell Cartel Leads Covering Sire Averages
Tell Cartel topped the covering sire rankings among stallions represented by at least two mares sold, with two mares carrying his service averaging $64,000 and generating $128,000.
Kiss My Hocks ranked second with two mares averaging $21,250 and grossing $42,500.
Popularity completed the top three covering sires with three mares averaging $17,733, producing $53,200 in total sales.
The covering sire rankings reflect prices paid for mares listed as bred to the respective stallions, rather than prices for the stallions' offspring.
Stronger Clearance Rate Highlights 2026 Sale
The 2026 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale demonstrated increased market activity, with more horses offered, more horses sold, fewer repurchases, and a higher median price compared to the previous year.
The 15.7 percent increase in gross receipts was driven primarily by greater sales volume, while the improved clearance rate indicated that a larger percentage of horses offered found buyers.
Although the overall average slipped 1.7 percent, the $500 increase in median price suggested firmer pricing in the middle portion of the market.
Kidney thanked Heritage Place customers for their participation and looked ahead to the company's upcoming sales.
"We wish all our customers much success and look forward to the Champions of The Future, Foal in Utero online sale in December and of course the Winter Mixed Sale January 14 -16, 2027," Kidney said.
With gross receipts exceeding $10.1 million, the three-day auction concluded with gains in total sales and buyer clearance, providing a positive finish to the 49th annual Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.
