Cowboy Exspress Tops $625,000 As Heritage Place Yearling Sale Completes Day 3

Cowboy Exspress, a son of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123, brought $625,000 to top Friday's third session of the 48th annual Heritage Place Quarter Horse Yearling Sale as the four-day auction moved toward Saturday's finale in Oklahoma City.

Heritage Place reported 250 yearlings offered during Friday's session, with 200 marked sold, 50 RNAs, and 21 outs. The session generated a reported gross of $7.29 million, with an average of $36,470 and a median of $22,000.

"Day 3 of the 2026 Heritage Place Yearling Sale finished strong with an average sales price of $36,470, and 80% of the horses offered today were marked sold," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said.

"The cumulative three-day average is $34,055, and through the third session, 80% of the horses offered have been sold, both figures consistent with last year's results.

"We look forward to a great finish tomorrow for the 48th Heritage Place Quarter Horse Yearling Sale."

Through three sessions, Heritage Place reported 762 yearlings offered, with 615 sold, 147 RNAs and 51 outs. The cumulative gross stands at $20,943,600.

Flying Cowboy 123 Colts Continue To Lead Day 3

Three sons of Flying Cowboy 123 accounted for the three highest-priced yearlings during Friday's session, led by Hip 742, Cowboy Exspress, who brought a final bid of $625,000 from AJ Racing Aurelio Juarez.

Consigned by 13 Racing LLC, Agent for Jeff Jones & Steve Holt, Cowboy Exspress is a yearling colt by Flying Cowboy 123 from Crazy Down Corona, by First Down Dash. He is a half-brother to five-time champion Empressum and All American Futurity(G1) winner Hes Judgeandjury.

The $625,000 purchase helped push AJ Racing Aurelio Juarez to the top of the buyer standings through the first three sessions with five purchases totaling $1,258,500.

Hip 603, Take Off Flying, brought the day's second-highest price when Chad Beus signed the ticket at $305,000. Marty Powers, Agent for Tom & Kathleen McNally, consigned the Flying Cowboy 123 colt from Jess Charlena, by Take Off Jess.

The sorrel colt is a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Jess My Hocks and Grade 2 winner Charlies Fury.

The third-highest seller was Hip 559, Effortless Cowboy, purchased for $250,000 by Tom Maher/Dick Tobin/Bill Maher. Jordan Wiggins, Agent for Wallace Johnson, consigned the Flying Cowboy 123 colt from Swingin Cartel, by Corona Cartel.

Efortless Cowboy is a half-brother to six black type include Heritage Place Derby(G2) winner Effortless Favorite, and Grade 2 winner Apollitical Scout.

AJ Racing Leads Buyers

AJ Racing's Aurelio Juarez leads all buyers through three sessions, purchasing five yearlings for $1,258,500.

LA Racing Stables LLC ranks second by total purchases with 23 yearlings totaling $591,000, while West Texas Racing Partners LLC has purchased four yearlings for $465,000.

Among consignors or agents, Rancho El Cabresto Inc. leads after three sessions, selling 22 yearlings for $1,121,000. Jordan Wiggins, Agent, follows with 10 yearlings totaling $808,000, while Lazy E Ranch LLC, Agent, has sold 20 for $672,500.

Flying Cowboy 123 Dominates Sire Standings

Flying Cowboy 123 has established a commanding lead among sires through the first three days of the sale.

With 38 yearlings sold, Flying Cowboy 123 has generated $4,038,000 in sales for an average price of $106,263, leading all sires with two or more yearlings sold by average.

Apollitical Jess ranks second with 35 yearlings averaging $63,014 and gross receipts of $2,205,500. Jess Good Candy follows with four yearlings averaging $49,750 and totaling $199,000.

Among stallions represented by their first sale crop and with two or more sold, Eye On The Card leads by average, with two yearlings averaging $20,250 and totaling $40,500. Cyber Attack has had 10 yearlings sell for $172,000, averaging $17,200.

Desirio leads the broodmare sire standings by average among stallions with two or more yearlings sold. Two yearlings out of Desirio mares have averaged $204,500 and grossed $409,000.

Take Off Jess ranks next with three averaging $177,000 and totaling $531,000, followed by Spit Curl Jess with three averaging $92,500 and grossing $277,500.

The 48th Heritage Place Quarter Horse Yearling Sale concludes Saturday at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City, offering Hips 814 through 1084.
