Canada Quarter Horse Cup Yearling and Mixed Sale Catalog Now Available

The catalog for the 31st Annual Canada Quarter Horse Cup Yearling and Mixed Sale is now available, giving prospective buyers an opportunity to review the offerings ahead of the September 22 sale in Ponoka, Alberta.

The 2026 sale will be conducted on Tuesday, September 22, at 7 p.m. at the Calnash Ag Event Centre. Perlich Brothers will serve as auctioneer for the annual event presented by the Alberta Quarter Horse Racing Association (AQHRA).

This year's catalog features 23 hips, including yearlings by a diverse group of Quarter Horse racing sires. Among the sires represented are First Timber, Obsessed With Corona, PYC Fun N Fancy, The Fiscal Cliff, Ivory League, JD Wagon Boss, Mighty Corona, Noble Rearing, and Tres Elegance.

The sale also provides buyers with several racing incentives. All yearlings that pass through the sale ring receive a non-transferable berth, with a preferred entry fee, to the estimated $60,000 2027 Canada Quarter Horse Cup (RG3) Futurity. Catalog yearlings are also eligible for the estimated $35,000 2027 Sale Stakes Futurity.

In addition, the five fastest qualifying sale graduates to the 2027 Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity will each receive a $1,000 bonus.

The catalog notes additional engagements for individual offerings, including the Alberta Stallion Stakes, Alberta Bred program, AQHA Racing Challenge, Black Gold, Breeders Elite Incentive, and Canadian Barrel Horse Incentive.

The Canada Quarter Horse Cup Yearling and Mixed Sale has long provided Canadian horsemen an opportunity to purchase racing prospects while supporting the Quarter Horse breeding and racing industry in Alberta. AQHRA's mandate includes promoting the development and breeding of Quarter Horses and Quarter Horse racing throughout the province.
