Whiskey Doc, Miss American Headline $75,000 Mystery Futurity At Will Rogers Downs

Will Rogers Downs will showcase a stakes-packed Monday afternoon program, highlighted by the $75,000 Mystery Futurity and three AQHA Challenge stakes races.

The card will also feature the Cox Ranch Will Rogers Downs Distaff Challenge, the Adequan Will Rogers Downs Derby Challenge, and the John Deere Will Rogers Downs Juvenile Challenge. For a complete preview of the AQHA Challenge races, see the related story in the Challenge section.

The spotlight will shift to the ninth race, the $75,000 Mystery Futurity, where a field of ten 2-year-old Quarter Horses will line up to run 350 yards. The featured event is scheduled for a post time of approximately 3:20 p.m.

Whiskey Doc will be among the leading contenders from post four. The juvenile enters the finale as the 2-1 morning line favorite. She won her trial heat by one length as she took command and held her way to a qualification, leaving more for the finale day. In her young career she has finished fourth in the Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity, third in the Grade 3 Laico Bird Stakes, second in the Grade 2 Easy Jet Stakes, and second in the Grade 3 Speedhorse Futurity. From seven starts she’s earned $101,914.

Dusty Rose Ranch, LLCs’ Oklahoma homebred filly is the daughter of their stallion Docs Dusty Cartel and is out of the Tac It Like a Man mare Jls Tacitlikejohn. She is trained by Stacey L. Capps to race from post four with jockey Cody R. Smith set to guide her to the victory.

Miss American will break just inside her as the second choice at 8-1 odds. The filly won her trial heat by half a length to secure her qualification. Earlier this year, she finished second in the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Stakes. In her six starts, she has finished in the top three every time, making her highly competitive in the field.

The daughter of Hes Relentless is out of the Tres Seis mare Tritoon, she was bred in Oklahoma by Tom Maher and races for owners Tom Maher and Amber Olmstead. She is trained by Jason L. Olmstead to race from post two with jockey Ramiro H. Garcia up.

The ten-horse lineup also includes Dressed N Blackk, Red Sticky Candy, Sweet Lorali, Heritage of Power, Daylynn, Why So Political, She Makes It Special, and Making Me Prizes, setting the stage for a wide-open 350-yard battle to close out the afternoon's stakes action.

Monday's program at Will Rogers Downs begins at 12:00 p.m., with the Mystery Futurity as the ninth race on the ten-race card.
