SHELBYVILLE, IN–AUGUST 7, 2024–Two sets of trials headline Saturday's 12-race all-Quarter Horse program at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Sixty-six 2-year-olds are entered in Saturday's 350-yard QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity (RG3) for juveniles sired by participating stallions.
Caughtmeatagoodtime, a homebred son of Lota PYC racing for Whiting Ranch, will be stretching out in distance off of his head victory in the 300-yard, $169,000 Heartland Futurity at Horseshoe Indianapolis on July 20. Ricardo Martinez trains the bay gelding.
Caughtmeatagoodtime drew post 5 and will be ridden by Fernando Morin in the first of seven trials.
Robert A. Ray's HF Just Reno is still a maiden after four races, but the gelded son of Jess Zoomin is coming off of a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Zoomin Feature, in the 350-yard, $194,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity (R) on July 20. A $7,500 purchase at last year's QHRAI Speed Sale, HF Just Reno is trained by Tim Eggleston.
HF Just Reno drew post 10 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina in the fifth heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 31, $100,000-added final.
Also on Saturday, Campos Family Ventures' Tres Of Blood leads a group of 39 sophomores entered in four 400-yard QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby (R) trials.
Tres Of Blood is coming off of a neck victory in the 400-yard, $126,000 Horseshoe Indianapolis QHRAI Derby on June 20. Claudio Barraza trains the gelded son of champion Apollitical Blood and $72,000 purchase at the 2022 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City.
