Texas-Bred Standouts Take Center Stage In Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes At Lone Star Park

The opening weekend of the fall meet at Lone Star Park continues Saturday night with a 12-race program and a talented group of Texas-breds set to take center stage in the Restricted Grade 3, $50,000-added Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes.

The first post is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with the featured event set for race seven at approximately 8:41 p.m. A field of seven Texas-breds, 3-year-olds and older, will line up for the 350-yard test, bringing together an accomplished group of stakes competitors for what promises to be one of the evening's most competitive races.

Bludz Valiant Policy headlines the field as the commanding 2-5 morning-line favorite. The 3-year-old filly has been on fire throughout her Derby campaign, winning four of five starts this season and continuing to build an impressive résumé.

Among those victories are the $60,000 Ms Retama Stakes and the Grade 3, $57,000 Selma Stakes. Her lone defeat of the season came in the $176,000 Sam Houston Oaks, where she finished second. Bludz Valiant Policy has now collected six career victories and earnings of $161,960.

The daughter of Apollitical Blood is out of the Tres Seis mare Bp Tres Policies and is a Texas homebred for Three Bar T Quarter Horses. Trainer Ben Olaveson will send the talented filly to the gate from post five, with Luis L. Vivanco returning to the saddle.

Waiting to challenge the favorite is Baby Ruth, who enters as the 5-1 second choice on the morning line. The 4-year-old mare arrives at Lone Star Park off a determined victory in the $60,000 TQHA 250 Stakes, where she battled to a driving finish and prevailed by a neck.

Baby Ruth has also shown her class throughout the season, scoring against allowance company at Remington Park before finishing second in the Grade 2, $50,000 Decketta Stakes. She races for owner Mi Serenity, who purchased her for $40,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Baby Ruth, a daughter of Jess Good Candy out of the Corona Cartel mare Jess a Cartel, was bred in Texas by Bobby Simmons. Trainer Marc E. Jungers will saddle the mare from post two, with Raul Ramirez, Jr. set to ride her.

With an in-form 3-year-old favorite taking on an accomplished older mare and five other Texas-bred challengers, the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes has all the ingredients for a thrilling feature. Speed, stakes experience, and home-state pride will collide over 350 yards as Lone Star Park's fall meet continues under the lights Saturday night.
