STAKES WINNERS A MERE ANDREA AND MY FAVORITE PARIS HEAD SUNDAY MAIN EVENT AT LOS ALAMITOS

Stakes-winning juveniles A Mere Andrea and My Favorite Paris will face off in the main event of Sunday night’s card at Los Alamitos, a feature $13,300 allowance dash at 350 yards.

Owned and bred by EG High Desert Farms, A Mere Andrea has made her Grade 1-winning bloodlines proud. Out of the outstanding mare Jess Hawk, the reigning PCQHRA Broodmare of the Year, the sorrel filly by A Mere Felix is a full sister to Grade 1 stakes winners Favorite Jesshawk and Jess Im Worth It. And just four starts into her freshman campaign, A Mere Andrea is already a multiple stakes winner.

A Mere Andrea’s first stakes win came in the Ed Burke Memorial Juvenile Stakes, the consolation for the Grade 1 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity. She followed that up with a victory in the $25,000 California Juvenile Gold Rush, delivering a strong finish to outduel Grade 1 finalist MP Jess Rockin by a head.

Trained by Jesus Nunez, A Mere Andrea rallied after a slow start to stop the clock in :17.896 for 350 yards in the Gold Rush. She has won two of her four career starts, finished third or better in all her outings, and accumulated $29,200 in earnings. To be ridden by Armando Cervantes, she will break from the outside post six.

Jerardo Herrera and Larry Stewart’s California-bred filly My Favorite Paris enters Sunday's feature looking to regain the form that saw her post a sharp half-length victory in the $30,000 Fred Scane Handicap on June 7. In her most recent start, My Favorite Paris ran fifth in a trial for the Governor’s Cup Futurity, while her other futurity trial outing was a victory in a race for a spot in the Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity. A look at all her effort and her best performance was indeed in the Fred Scane. For the daughter of Favorite Cartel, the Fred Scane was also a redemption race following a rough trip in the Kindergarten final, where she finished sixth.

My Favorite Paris took a wide path early in the Fred Scane, but did everything right from there, taking the lead shortly after the start and flying home in :15.744 over 300 yards. Bred by George and Sandra Villalobos out of the stakes-placed mare Paris Prize, she has won two of her five career starts with earnings of $33,646. The high-performing trainer/jockey duo of Jose Flores and Irving Lara, who have combined for 20 wins from 97 starters, will team up with My Favorite Paris from post four.

Despite the presence of two talented stakes winners, the juvenile to beat could be Rancho El Cabresto’s undefeated homebred filly, Train Of Gold B. Trained by Juan Aleman, Train Of Gold B has won both of her career starts, including a nose victory over RR El Cholo in a trial for the Grade 1 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity.

In her racing debut, the Freighttrain B filly was a convincing winner over a field that included A Mere Andrea (third) and Flying Sin Tacha (second), the latter of whom returned to win an Ed Burke trial. To be ridden by Martin Arriaga, Train Of Gold B will start from post five.

The talented field of 2-year-olds also features: Blue Eyes Cowboy, to be ridden by Justine Klaiber; Female Flyer, who posted the fastest qualifying time for the Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity before her connections opted not to risk having her claimed in the final; and Standing With Pride, who finished second to stablemate A Mere Andrea in the Ed Burke Juvenile.
