Stakes Action And Relay Racing Highlight Saturday Afternoon At Blackfoot

The Saturday afternoon card at Blackfoot will feature eight races, with the first post at noon. The afternoon will be highlighted by two stakes events, the $10,000 Guaranteed Donnie Wheeler Memorial Derby and the $5,000 Guaranteed Quarter Horse Maturity, with Relay Racing also on full display between races throughout the card.

The seventh race will feature a field of five mixed-bred 3-year-olds competing in the $10,000 Guaranteed Donnie Wheeler Memorial Derby, set to run 350 yards.

Cash Me Lew will lead the field as the 8-5 morning-line favorite. The 3-year-old colt is coming off a recent victory at Elko, where he battled allowance non-winners of two and got up by a nose in a tight finish. Earlier this season, he finished fourth in the Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby.

Cash Me Lew races for owner Jennifer F. Orgill, who bought him for $10,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The son of Big Lew, out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Centercurlincash, was bred in Oklahoma by Carlie R. Rooney. Kyle Dahlke prepares the colt to race from post two, with Eric Ayala aboard.

Earlier on the card, the fifth race will feature a competitive field of six mixed-bred runners, 3-year-olds and older, in the $5,000 Guaranteed Quarter Horse Maturity. The 350-yard event appears to have a deeper field, with several experienced runners capable of making their presence known.

El Treen has been installed as the 4-5 morning-line favorite. The 4-year-old enters off an allowance victory, where he broke sharply and held off his competition to win by a neck. He has collected three victories, three seconds and five thirds in his career, with earnings of $28,330.

The son of Freighttrain B, out of the One Famous Eagle mare After Party, is a Utah homebred for Adrian Aleman. Jorge Paredes trains El Treen, who will break from post four with Jayden R. Ironeyes in the saddle.

Looking to shake things up is Rtm Ginsburg, who enters at 6-1 on the morning line. The 6-year-old gelding is coming off a strong victory, holding his advantage to the wire for a one-length win and earning a 96 speed index.

Rtm Ginsburg has also proven himself against stakes competition this season, finishing third in both the Emerald Downs Championship Challenge Stakes and the Crooked River Hook Stakes. With $63,980 in career earnings, he enters Saturday as the highest-earning runner in the Maturity field and could be a serious threat at a price.

The Idaho homebred for RTM Stables, LLC is by First Moonflash and out of the Chickie Cherry Cola mare Rtm Say Your Prayers. Mark Hanson trains the gelding, who will race from post six with jockey Scott A. Bethke aboard.

With two stakes races bringing some of the afternoon's top competitors to the track and the excitement of Relay Racing taking over between races, Saturday's card at Blackfoot will offer fans plenty of action from the noon opener through the final race.
