Rey De Manny Headlines the $129,952 Mexico Futurity On Sunday

MEXICO CITY, MEX–MAY 1, 2025–Two stakes races will be featured on Sunday’s card at the Hipódromo de las Américas in Mexico City. The first is the $13,753 Mexico Futurity Consolation (non black type), and the evening will conclude with the 15th annual $129,952 Mexico Futurity.
After clocking the fastest time by 2 3/4-lengths in his trial, Rey De Manny and rider Nestor Durán are the frontrunners for the Mexico Futurity. Trainer Ashley Cirilo will saddle Rey De Manny for his owner Cuadra San Martín, who also owns five other juveniles entered in the 250-yard finals, including JM Banana Eage, Payasa De Manny, DK Misty Cartel, DK Lisboa Cartel, and Buu.
The son of leading sire Krash Cartel will be looking for his second victory in his second career start from race ten on the evening’s card. Abelardo Gallegos bred the $43,243 Subasta Selecta sale graduate out of the Jesse James Jr mare Jess Blazin Queen. Rey De Manny is a full brother to last year’s Mexico Futurity champion Kin Krash, who is also owned by Cuadra San Martin.
The Mexico Futurity Consolation will be held in race nine. Dk Candymex is favored to win after qualifying with the fastest time to the consolation race in 13.456 seconds. Jockey Heriberto Camacho, who led her to victory in the trials, will return for the mount in the finals.
Antonio Garcia trains Dk Candymex for owner Cuadra Alpuyeca, who purchased her for $17,600 in the Subasta Selecta last year. Cuadra La Presita bred the daughter of Danny Cartel out of Good First Choice by Jess Good Candy.
Race nine will start at 7:30 (CST), followed by the Mexico Futurity finals at 8:00 (CST) at the Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico City. CLICK HERE for the full list of qualifier to the Mexico Futurity finals.
