RADE 1 WINNERS HEAD FIELD OF 10 IN AH SIGH STAKES SUNDAY AT LOS ALAMITOS

CYPRESS, CA—October 23, 2026
A pair of Grade 1 futurity winners, CV Fdddinasty Shan and Contentious, headline a full field of 10 talented 2-year-olds entered in Sunday's $30,000 Ah Sigh Stakes at Los Alamitos Race Course.
The 400-yard event, scheduled as the eighth race on Sunday night's program, will serve as an important prep for several juveniles pointing toward the November 22 trials for the prestigious Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1), California's richest horse race.
J. Francisco Diaz's CV Fdddinasty Shan, winner of the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity (G1), enters the Ah Sigh with four victories from his first six career starts.
The Mexico-bred son of FDD Dinasty began his career with four consecutive wins, highlighted by a determined nose victory over Faultless in the Ed Burke Memorial Futurity.
He followed that performance with a victory in his trial for the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity (G2) before finishing fourth in the final. CV Fdddinasty Shan will now look to regain his winning form with Armando Viramontes aboard.
Contentious, owned by Manuel Chavez and Jos Santos, brings an equally impressive resume into Sunday's contest. The Favorite Cartel filly captured the Governor's Cup Futurity (RG1), holding off her rivals by a head to secure her biggest career victory.
Trained by Paul Jones, Contentious has won three of five career starts. She most recently finished third in her PCQHRA Breeders Futurity trial before connections elected to point her toward the Ah Sigh Stakes.
Another runner with Grade 1 experience is MP Jess Rockin, owned by Steve Burns and Jeryl Hartley.
The Mpshinning filly delivered an impressive 1¾-length victory in her Ed Burke Memorial Futurity trial but has been unable to return to the winner's circle in three subsequent starts. She did finish second in the California Juvenile Gold Rush and will look to rebound against Sunday's accomplished field.
All three of the featured runners remain eligible for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity trials, giving Sunday's stakes added significance as they prepare for one of the season's most lucrative opportunities.
Three additional Ah Sigh entrants—Just Try Me, Blue Eyes Cowboy, and Dios Dorado—are also eligible for the Two Million trials.
The Ah Sigh Stakes brings together a competitive group of juveniles, with established Grade 1 winners facing several promising runners seeking to strengthen their credentials heading into the final weeks of the California futurity season.
