GRAND PRAIRIE, TX.—October 27, 2026

One of the biggest weekends of the 2026 Quarter Horse racing season is set for Lone Star Park on Friday and Saturday, October 30–31, with 217 horses competing in 23 trial heats for three major stakes events with a combined $1,577,000 in final purses.

The weekend begins Friday with 15 trials for the Grade 1 $1 million Texas Classic Futurity, followed Saturday by five trials for the Grade 1 $334,000 Texas Classic Derby and three for the Grade 2 $243,000 Purina Feeds Texas Classic Oaks.

The ten fastest qualifiers in each event will advance to their respective finals on Texas Classic Night, Saturday, November 21.

Friday's program will feature 144 two-year-olds competing at 400 yards for a shot at one of ten coveted qualifying positions in the Grade 1 $1 million Texas Classic Futurity. The opening trial is set for 5:05 p.m. (CDT), with the fifteenth and final heat scheduled for 11:09 p.m.

An accomplished group of juveniles headlines the evening, including the undefeated three-time futurity winner Cowboys Flying, the Gade 1 Rainbow Futurity winner El Huracano V, and the Grade 2 Dash for Cash Futurity winner Jt Midlife Crisis.

Konklusiv enters the third trial as the 2-1 morning-line favorite after an impressive campaign that includes four wins in five starts. The gelding has never finished worse than third and captured the $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Stakes, earning $53,440.

The Texas-bred son of Jess Different, out of the Corona Cartel mare All N The Jeans, is trained by Juan L. Vazquez. Francisco Calderon will make his first appearance aboard the gelding from post two.

Cowboys Flying, one of the country's most accomplished juveniles, headlines the sixth trial as the overwhelming 2-5 morning-line favorite. The undefeated gelding has established himself among the leading two-year-olds of 2026, with six wins in six starts, including three major futurity championships.

His remarkable season includes victories in the $541,000 Texas Breeders Futurity, the Grade 1 $684,000 TQHA Sale Futurity, and the prestigious Grade 1 $3 million All American Futurity. Those performances have elevated his career earnings to $2,062,793, making him the leading money earner of the season.

Owned by Double J Racing, Cowboys Flying was purchased for $53,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale. The Texas-bred son of Flying Cowboy 123, out of the Carters Cartel mare Cartels Lady, was bred by Dr. Tommy Hays.

Trainer Marco Adair Chavez-Gutierrez will saddle the standout gelding, who will break from post six with regular rider Nestor Duran aboard. A qualifying performance would bring Cowboys Flying one step closer to adding another Grade 1 championship to his undefeated record.

El Huracano V returns to competition in the thirteenth trial as the even-money morning-line favorite. The talented gelding has not raced since winning the Grade 1 $1 million Rainbow Futurity, one of the premier juvenile events at Ruidoso Downs.

Earlier in the season, he finished second in the Grade 1 $1,159,000 Heritage Place Futurity. His five-start record includes three wins, one second, and one third, for earnings of $632,670.

El Huracano V, an Oklahoma homebred, races for Valeriano Racing Stables, LLC. A son of freshman sire Golden Boi, out of the Valiant Hero mare Bellissima Chocolata, he is trained by Jesus Nunez. Francisco Calderon has the riding assignment from post five as the gelding looks to make a successful return to racing.

Jt Midlife Crisis brings a four-race winning streak into the fourteenth trial, where he has been installed as the even-money morning-line favorite. The gelding has won six of seven career starts and arrives after victories in the Grade 2 $455,000 Dash for Cash Futurity and the Grade 3 $85,000 Speedhorse Futurity.

His consistent performances have earned $292,222 in career earnings. The Oklahoma-bred son of Tell Cartel, out of the Real Visions mare Wranglers Vision, was bred by Jeffrey Allen Tyer and privately purchased by Cuadra Ladrilleros, Ltd. Co., before the Dash for Cash trials.

Trainer Jose Hernandez-Martinez will send Jt Midlife Crisis from the rail in post one, with jockey Roman Cruz aboard.

Adding further depth to the fourteenth trial is Ruse Man Crystal, the 6-5 second choice on the morning line. The talented filly captured the $230,000 Texas Sires Futurity earlier this summer and finished third in the Grade 2 $435,000 Oklahoma Futurity.

With three wins in four starts and earnings of $152,341, Ruse Man Crystal has established herself as a competitive stakes performer for owners K K Horse Racing.

Bred in Louisiana by Ruse Ranch, LLC, the daughter of KJ Mucho Macho Man is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Crystal Sola. Trainer Jose A. Garcia will saddle the filly from post three, with jockey Bryan Candanosa aboard.

Friday's program at Lone Star Park promises an outstanding evening of Quarter Horse racing, featuring undefeated champions, multiple graded stakes winners, and emerging juvenile talent across 15 trial heats.

Every fraction of a second will matter as 144 hopefuls compete for just ten qualifying positions in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1). For the fastest ten, the road continues to Texas Classic Night on November 21, when another prestigious Grade 1 championship and one of the season's richest purses will be on the line.

The races at Lone Star Park can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
