Oaks Winners Set To Face Older Mares In Miss Princess On Sunday
LOS ALAMITOS, CA–MAY 2, 2025–James Sills and Abel Flores’ Shaken Goin On, the winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Oaks, will face older mares for the first time when she takes on eight of them in the Grade 3, $50,000 Miss Princess Handicap for distaffers at 350 yards on Sunday at Los Alamitos.
While many Oaks finalists, including runner-up Powerful Wise Lady and third-place finisher Beach Walk, opted to run in the La Pacifica Handicap for sophomores fillies on Saturday night, the connections of Shaken Goin On decided that she was ready for her challenge.
The homebred daughter of Freighttrain B won her Oaks trial from the rail on March 1 and then posted a 3/4 length win also came from post number one in the $430,000 Oaks final. She will now go after her third win in a row. The Eddie Willis-trainee will start from post number four at Los Alamitos and will be ridden by Justine Klaiber.
Pedro Barbizan Santiago Leite’s Miss Isao Jqm might be the mare to beat in the Miss Princess. The Brazilian superstar has already won a pair of stakes races this season and in seven starts in the United States, she has finished either first or second in every one of them.
Mis Isao Jqm won all 10 of her starts in Brazil before making her United Stakes debut here last September. Eduardo Nicasio will ride her from post eight for trainer James Glenn, Jr.
This field will also feature One Sweet Duck and Ecstatik, the last two La Pacifica winners, West Texas Prize, Basking, La Famosa Vaquera, Budderhomesngarden, and Market Analyst.
