Mayor Humdinger, Sm My Valentine Head Strong Field Of Nine In Town Policy On Sunday

CYPRESS, CA—November 6, 2026

Mike Casselman’s Mayor Humdinger and Santos Montemayor and Omar Torres’ SM My Valentine - both impressive stakes winners as juveniles in 2025 - look to continue shining as sophomores when they headline a strong field of nine in Sunday’s $30,000 Town Policy Stakes at 400 yards at Los Alamitos.

Bred and trained by Casselman, Mayor Humdinger enjoyed a four-race win streak last year that included a victory in the Restricted Grade 1 Governor’s Cup Futurity on July 26. He has added two victories from five starts this season, headlined by a win in the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap and a second-place finish in the Restricted Grade 2 Governor’s Cup Derby. He enters this sophomore feature after stepping up against the track's top older horses in the Grade 1 Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship at the classic quarter-mile distance. Mayor Humdinger finished ninth in that ambitious spot, and a return to age-restricted company should suit him well. Martin Arriaga will ride from the outside post nine.

Trained by Adan Farias with Gerardo Vera in the saddle, SM My Valentine captured the Grade 2 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity last season and placed third in the Los Alamitos Two Million Juvenile Stakes. He has maintained a busy sophomore campaign, making five starts—all against stakes-caliber company. After finishing second to Mayor Humdinger in the Sgt Pepper Feature, SM My Valentine will look to turn the tables on his rival on Sunday.

Warmly, winner of the Jens List Jr. California Breeders Stakes for 3-year-olds, and El Dictator, runner-up in last season's Governor’s Cup Futurity, add further stakes quality to the lineup. Completing the nine-horse field are Hurry Up, Flying Chance, Turnpike Jammer, FDD Perfect Strike, and More It.
