OPELOUSAS, LA.—October 8, 2026
Friday evening racing at Evangeline Downs will feature a competitive lineup of Louisiana-bred fillies and mares in the $30,000 Amelia Belle Stakes. The seven-race program begins at 5:35 p.m. (CDT), with the featured event set for the sixth race. A field of five Louisiana-bred fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and older, will compete at 350 yards, with an approximate post time of 7:40 p.m.
Lm Ms Apollitical enters as the 8-5 morning-line favorite and the youngest in the field. The 3-year-old filly returns after a strong runner-up finish in the $50,000 Audubon Stakes, finishing just a head behind the winner. She has made three starts this season, finishing in the money each time. In her 11-race career, she has recorded three victories, two second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes.
Louisiana breeder Luis R. Martinez, Jr. also owns and trains the talented filly. A daughter of Apollitical Blood, Lm Ms Apollitical is out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Ur Louisiana Blue. She will break from post position four with jockey Eddi E. Martinez aboard as she seeks to add another stakes victory to her record.
Iveseenwhatyoucando brings experience to the field as the 5-2 second choice on the morning line. The 5-year-old mare has made three starts this season, finishing second and third against optional claiming competition. Throughout her career, she has earned four victories and five runner-up finishes, with earnings totaling $82,455.
Owned by Lucky Aces Racing, Iveseenwhatyoucando was purchased for $18,000 at the Heritage Place Sale. The Louisiana-bred daughter of Open Me a Corona is out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Blues Cartel and was bred by Daniel R. Trahan. Trainer Kenneth L. Roberts, Sr., will saddle the mare, who draws the inside post position with jockey Ubaldo Luna aboard.
With the promising young favorite, Lm Ms Apollitical, facing the experienced Iveseenwhatyoucando and three additional Louisiana-bred contenders, the Amelia Belle Stakes promises an exciting test of speed and determination. The $30,000 feature will headline Friday evening's program at Evangeline Downs, as the state's fillies and mares compete for stakes honors.
