Full Field Of 10 In Justanold Love Stakes On Saturday; Jones Aims For Win Number 3,981.

CYPRESS, CA —November 4, 2026

Led by 2026 stakes winners Caribbean and Slatedtoshine, a full field of 10 talented sophomore fillies will clash in Saturday’s $30,000 Justanold Love Stakes at Los Alamitos.

Caribbean showed great promise during her juvenile campaign, frequently hinting that a breakthrough was near. She put it all together on California Breeders Champions Night on July 26, defeating a solid group of fillies and mares in the Restricted Grade 3 Rolling A Ranch Matron Stakes at 350 yards. Owned by Burns Ranch, the daughter of Favorite Cartel scored at 15-1 odds—the longest shot on the board—edging favorite Quick She Is by a nose. Caribbean earned that victory thanks to a flying start, and she’ll need another sharp break against this deep lineup.

Owned by the Schvaneveldt Sisters and Mark Smith, Slatedtoshine has enjoyed a stellar sophomore campaign. The daughter of Mpshinning has won four of nine starts this year, including a victory in the La Pacifica Stakes against fillies at 4-1 odds. She also finished second against open company in the Sgt Pepper Feature Stakes on August 22, took third in the Los Alamitos Maiden Stakes on February 22, and finished in the top half of the field in the Restricted Grade 2 Governor’s Cup Derby. Trained by Roman Figueroa, the Adan Paredes-bred filly enters Saturday off a sharp allowance victory.

Hall of Fame trainer Paul Jones enters the racing week just two wins shy of tying Blane Schvaneveldt’s record of 3,982 Quarter Horse victories at Los Alamitos. Jones can move within one of the mark if he can pick up win number 3,981 when he saddles Parsons Ranch homebred The Lady Is A Vamp in the Justanold Love. The multiple graded stakes finalist comes off an allowance victory in her most recent outing.

The deep field also features Walk When I Walk, a veteran of three graded derbies who also qualified for the Los Alamitos Oaks earlier this year. French Valley, runner-up in last year’s Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity, and CM Jessa Blue Monday, runner-up in this year’s Los Alamitos Oaks, add further marquee talent to the line-up. Other top names in this field are Me Shining, Leaving The Cartel, Went To London, and Morning Star K.
