An exciting afternoon of Quarter Horse racing awaits at Hipódromo de las Américas on Sunday, highlighted by two major stakes in the nine-race program. The 43rd running of the approximately $17,100 Futurity Las Américas and the 32nd running of the approximately $44,300 Derby Criadores Mexicanos will bring together promising juveniles and accomplished 3-year-olds.

The afternoon card begins at 3:00 p.m. local time, with the Futurity Las Américas scheduled as the third race at about 4:00 p.m. The Derby Criadores Mexicanos will close the program as the ninth race at about 7:00 p.m.

The $17,100 Futurity Las Américas features five 2-year-olds competing over 400 yards. Flying Rose enters as the 6-5 morning-line favorite after a strong second-place finish in the Alfredo Castro Rea Classic on September 20. The daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 finished a nose behind Already Favorite in the 350-yard event.

Flying Rose has recorded one win, two second-place finishes, and one third-place finish in eight career starts. She has earned approximately $23,900 and has competed against several of Mexico's leading juveniles this season.

Bred in the United States by Garlyn O. Shelton, Flying Rose is out of the Corona Cartel mare, Corona Tea Rose. She races for Cuadra Alpuyeca and trainer Antonio Garcia Carranza. H. Gomez will ride from post five.

A Africana enters as the 5-2 second choice after a fourth-place finish in the Alfredo Castro Rea Classic. The daughter of Apollitical Blood earned her first career victory on August 30, winning a 350-yard trial by 2 1/2 lengths.

The ninth and final race will feature the approximately $44,300 Derby Criadores Mexicanos. Eleven Mexico-bred 3-year-olds are entered to compete over 440 yards, including several established stakes winners seeking another shot at a major victory.

Dk Goliat enters as the 3-1 morning-line favorite after winning the Derby Desafío Crianza Mexicana on August 30. The son of Danny Cartel captured the 350-yard event by three-quarters of a length over Mi Krash Favorito.

The gelding has won three of seven career starts and finished second three times, earning about $31,500. All three victories have come this season, including an allowance win in June and his maiden win in April.

Br Chago returns as another leading contender after a successful season that included a victory in the Derby Subasta Selecta on June 28. The son of Jess Lips captured the 400-yard event by one length over Kc Shes Cartel.

The 3-year-old gelding has won four of his ten career starts and earned approximately $55,000. He also won his trial for the Derby Criadores Mexicanos on August 9 by three lengths, then finished fourth in the Derby Desafío Crianza Mexicana.
