FAMILY FUN AND QUARTER HORSE RACING THIS SUNDAY AT AJAX DOWNS

One of the most popular days of the Ajax Downs' Quarter Horse racing season is Family Fun Day in support of the Ajax Pickering Hospital, set for this Sunday, August 30.

Doors open at 10 a.m. (EDT) and the festivities begin with a chance for kids to race on the Ajax Downs track. A show by the popular Lexy the Rap Dad is on from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There will also be treats and raffles, face painting, and Zoo To You Animals. Loot bags will be given out for a small donation.

Racing begins at 12:55 with eight exciting dashes, including the Battle Of The Breeds, race 1, pitting Quarter Horses versus Thoroughbreds, and the $45,540 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity featuring a competitive field of nine.

Peighntmeadiamond, unbeaten in three races this season, including the Ontario Bred Maturity, is one of the top contenders for owner Richard Wincikaby of Alliston, ON. The popular mare Pretty Runaway is also in the field, and she has won the OSS Maturity the past two consecutive years for owner and breeder James Bogar.
