AJ FLAWLESS, SILVER BAC HEAD $35,000 SOUND DASH HANDICAP AT LOS ALAMITOS

CYPRESS, CA—October 8, 2026

Led by Bobbie and Larry Rice’s Lobo Derby winner AJ Flawless—a multiple stakes-placed runner at Los Alamitos this season—and Silver Bac, the runner-up in the 2026 Grade 1 James Dreyer Charger Bar Handicap, a highly talented group of fillies and mares will take center stage in the $35,000 Sound Dash Handicap at 350 yards on Sunday night at the Orange County oval.

The ultra-consistent AJ Flawless is among those at the top of the marquee in the Sound Dash. After winning the Lobo Derby at The Downs at Albuquerque and making one other start at Zia Park at the end of 2025, AJ Flawless has been a key player in each of her stakes appearances at Los Alamitos.

She was second to PCQHRA Horse of the Year Shaken Goin On in the Grade 2 Miss Princess Handicap and followed that up with a third-place finish in the Grade 2 Abigail Kawananakoa Stakes.

She then finished second to Ohana Spirit in the Cox Ranch California Regional Distaff Challenge before taking on the nation’s top distaffers in the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap.

Four strong efforts at Los Alamitos in four of the nation’s most important races for mares have established AJ Flawless as one of the division’s most impressive performers. Edwin Escobedo will ride the Marc Jungers trainee from post six.

Adding proven class to the race is Silver Bac, a major stakes factor who earned runner-up finishes in both the Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap and last year's edition of the Sound Dash.

Racing for Steve Burns, Jose Flores, and Mark and Marta Winslow, the Seperate Interest mare also competed in the Mildred Vessels while making five straight stakes appearances. The Flores trainee will be searching for her first stakes victory, with Irving Lara getting the call from post seven.

Speed merchant One Sweet Duck looms large following a stellar campaign. Winner of the Virginia Hyland Handicap at Los Alamitos earlier this season, she boasts four victories this year, highlighted by a dominant summer tour in Wyoming where she captured two races, including the Isawsugar Stakes.

The competitive field also features Fairlea Flyin, who enters off a sharp allowance victory at Cypress and a second-place effort in the Florentine Stakes, alongside Ed Allred’s homebred Quick She Is, the runner-up in the California Breeders Matron Stakes.

Rounding out the action-packed 350-yard sprint are the talented Racy Favorite, veteran performer Budder Off Friends, stakes-placed Jo Lee, and the promising, up-and-coming Went To London. With talented distaffers from one end of the starting gate to the other, the Sound Dash promises to be a thrilling dash from gate to wire.
