Wl Karma Scores First Stakes Victory in the $67,285 Colors Of Houston Futurity [G2]

HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 8, 2024–Wl Karma finally gets her stakes victory in the $67,285 Colors Of Houston Futurity [G2] at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday afternoon.

The two-year-old filly by leading sire CRM Livewire won her trial heats to the Oklahoma P&A Juvenile and PSBA American Paint Classic [G1] but returned to the finals for eighth and ninth, respectively.

Today jockey Adrian Morales led Wl Karma to victory in :13.90 seconds, clocking a 90 speed index. The duo crossed the wire a 1/2-length ahead of Flyin Chilitos and Ima Chili. The upset paid a hefty $29.80 to win on 13/1 odds.

The $25,568 winner's share of the purse upped Wl Karms's earnings to $41,436 for owners/breeders Wade and Susan Leggett of Oklahoma. Zackary Rios trained the sorrel filly out of Cl Trap Queen by Sf Royal Quick Flash.

Runner-up Flyin Chilitos, ridden by Eleazar Hernandez, lunged up for place. The son of Chilitos broke his maiden earlier this season at Sam Houston from four starts. Flyin Chilitos has earned $22,129 for his owner, Omar Paredes.

Trainer Leonel Hernandez saddled the gelding bred in Texas by Claudia Miranda. Flyin Chilitos is out of Sensational Senator by Louisiana Senator.

Third-place finisher Ima Chili was piloted by Oscar Andrade Jr. Darrel Hooper, who owns and trains the son of Chilitos, who has a record of 1-1-1 from three starts and $13,701 in earnings. He was bred in Texas by Sarah Huskey out of the Executive Menace mare Im Not Hillary.
