Went To London Outduels Eight Fillies To Win Justanold Love On Saturday At Los Alamitos

CYPRESS, CA—November 7, 2026
Owned and bred by Ed Allred, Went To London broke sharply from post six, took the lead at the midway point, and held off a talented group of fillies to win the $30,000 Justanold Love Stakes at 5-1 odds on Saturday at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Gabriel Lara for trainer Scott Willoughby, Went To London covered 350 yards in :17.625 while securing her second victory in six starts this season. A full sister to multiple Grade 1 winner London Toby, this was the first stakes win of her career. The daughter of Favorite Cartel out of London Laura had a quiet juvenile campaign last year, with her best two performances being runner-up efforts across five starts. However, she has been on the rise during her sophomore season, which features a maiden victory, a runner-up finish in the California Breeders Debutante Stakes, an allowance win, and now this impressive stakes triumph.
"She's really improving," Willoughby said. "She's had some trouble away from the gate. She really needs to go 350, 400 yards. She loves the distance. This should set her well for the trials to the Southern Derby on November 29. I love this filly. It's just taken a little time for her to come around. She's a big filly and it just took her a little while. We're also looking forward to some nice races next year. She'll be tough."
With the $16,500 winner’s share of the purse, she has now earned $27,143 in 11 career outings. She hit the wire a ½ length ahead of her closest pursuer, the highly consistent Slatedtoshine.
Slatedtoshine, owned by the Schvaneveldt Sisters and Mark Smith, has been one of the most consistent fillies on the grounds. She has hit the board in seven of her nine starts this year with all of her outings coming against top-caliber competition. Her 2026 campaign includes a victory in the La Pacifica Handicap, a runner-up finish against open company in the Sgt Pepper Feature Handicap, and an appearance in the Governor's Cup Derby.
Bred by Adan Paredes, the daughter of Mpshinning earned $6,750 under jockey Jesus Rios Ayala for trainer Roman Figueroa, bringing her career earnings to $87,652 in 16 starts.
Ridden by Ruben Lozano for trainer Luke Lindsey, CM Jessa Blue Monday sat fifth at the break before surging in the final 150 yards to finish third. Owned by Randy Dickerson, the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Oaks runner-up earned $3,750 for her effort.
Completing the order of finish were French Valley in fourth, followed by The Lady Is A Vamp, Me Shinning, Walk When I Walk, Morning Star K, Caribbean, and Leavin the Cartel.
