Utah Homebred Favorite Buddy Bc Wins $199,300 Wyoming Downs Futurity Final

EVANSTON, WY–AUGUST 11, 2024–Favorite Buddy Bc (9-1) raced to his second consecutive win on Sunday in the $199,300 Wyoming Downs Futurity sponsored by Ranwell Equine Center at Wyoming Downs.

Favorite Buddy Bc flew late under jockey Julio De La Torre to defeat Kissin Perfect by half-a-length. The son of the Favorite Cartel third-crop sire, Flay, completed the 350 yards in 17.387 seconds, equaling a 99-speed index with an 8 mph tailwind.

Trainer Sergio Canales conditions the brown colt for owner-breeder Ben L. McKinney. Third in the Beehive Stakes in April, Favorite Buddy Bc broke his maiden in the Beehive Futurity trials when he made his career debut.

Out of the Class Jump mare Classic Pearl Bc, Favorite Buddy Bc has won three of four career starts, and today's winner's purse of $91,678 boosted his earning mark to $106,671.

Runner-up Kissin Perfect earned $39,680 for owner-breeder Jason Berry. The daughter of leading sire Kiss My Hocks is a stablemate of Favorite Buddy Pc. Trainer Canales named jockey Jesus Canales to ride the Utah-bred out of Perfect Practice by One Famous Eagle.

The second-fastest qualifier, Jess A Dash Of Class, lugged in under jockey Jesus Valenzuela to finish a nose back in third. Kylie Valenzuela trains the daughter Jess Paint Me for owners Eddie and Andrea Jensen. Bred in Wyoming by Ron and Laurie Moosman, Jess A Dash Of Class earned $19,930 for the effort.

Jg Special Dynasty, Game For Tarzan, Flashy Version, Vvr Canella Velvet, Glock 9, De Nasty and Billys Fast Red Rose completed the field.
