TW Trumps Secrets wins Escondido Beach Overnight Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis

TW Trumps Secrets earned his first career stakes victory Saturday, August 29 to close out the all-Quarter Horse racing day at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Guided by Diego Villamil Bocanegra, the four-year-old scored the third win on the day for trainer Natasha Perez.

TW Trumps Secrets was quick out of the gate and a factor from the first jump for Villamil-Bocanegra from post two in the initial stages of the 350-yard dash. JLA Hide the Shine and Alberto Ceron came up the inside to challenge and even led for a few strides before TW Trumps Secrets took back the lead, pressing all the way to the wire for a win by a half length in :17.867. Beach First and Rolando Pina closed well on the outside for second in a four-horse photo that placed Perrys Secret Gold and Jimmy Brooks in third.

TW Trumps Secrets paid $6.80 for the win. The four-year-old son of Mr Apollitical Dash is a homebred for Tom and Tammy Wylie’s breeding and racing operation out of Ohio. Tom Wylie still owns the Indiana bred, who picked up his first win of the season and his third overall. He is closing in on $100,000 in career earnings for his connections.

Trained by Natasha Perez, TW Trumps Secrets is another well-bred product of the Wylie farm, located in Swanton, Ohio in the northeastern part of the state. The gelding can be traced back to the standout broodmare Run the Dash, who was named 2007 Broodmare of the Year and dam to World Champion Blues Girl Too, who retired as a multiple Grade 1 winner with more than $2 million in earnings.

The race is named in honor of Escondido Beach, the top stallion in the state of Indiana numerous years and is leading the standings once again in 2026. He passed away last July at the age of 20 at Miller Ranch, owned and operated by Sheri and Glen Miller of Shipshewana, Ind. His final crop will be on the track in 2028.

Beach First finished second under Rolando Pina for owner Gregg Farris and trainer Tim Eggleston. After breaking last, the gelding closed strongly to finish a half-length behind the winner in :17.949. Bred by Sheri Miller, the 4-year-old gelding sold for $3,000 at the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale and was later a $12,000 repurchase at the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction. He is sired by Escondido Beach and out of the Brimmerton mare Gevalia. Beach First now has a record of 17-3-6-1 with earnings of $164,772. He won last year’s Blue River Derby and finished second in the 2024 Leader Of The Class Sale Futurity, as well as last year’s QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Invitational Stakes and Sterlie Bertram Memorial.

Ridden by Jimmy Brooks, Perrys Secret Gold crossed the wire in third for owner Roger Cyrulik and trainer Tim Eggleston. He turned in an even effort, finishing a neck behind Beach First in :17.987. Bred by Owen Stanley Jr., the 4-year-old gelding is sired by Racy Secret and out of the Mr Piloto mare Thruthefireagain. He now has a record of 7-2-0-2 with earnings of $24,675.

Jla Hide The Shine, Kelli Girl, Oscar Mike and Flyin Cowgirl completed the order of finish.
