The Prize Ferarri Captures Third Straight Governors Stakes

The Prize Ferarri continued his dominance at White Pine Racing on Saturday, collecting his third consecutive victory in the $17,400 Governors Stakes.

Ridden by Jose Rodriguez, The Prize Ferarri broke best from post three and led every step of the 400-yard event. The eight-year-old gelding maintained his advantage to the wire to defeat Paint The City by a neck in :19.802 for a 95 speed index.

The Prize Ferarri is owned by RTM Stables LLC and Bryon Goody and trained by Mark Hanson. Bred by Weetona Stanley, he sold for $22,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale and was later a $30,000 repurchase at the Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale. He is sired by The Louisiana Cartel and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize.

Winning his fourth consecutive start, including the Jack Rhoden Memorial Stakes, The Prize Ferarri improved his record to 42-26-7-6 with earnings of $227,913.

The multiple stakes winner has now captured the Governors Stakes in three consecutive years, adding Saturday's victory to his 2024 and 2025 editions. His stakes record also includes two victories in the White Pine Stakes and a win in the Bitterroot Derby. The Prize Ferarri also holds the White Pine Racing 400-yard track record of :19.718, set in 2022.

Paint The City finished second under Carlos Castruita. The four-year-old gelding chased The Prize Ferarri throughout and finished a neck behind the winner in :19.834, also earning a 95 speed index.

Owned and trained by Cesar Luna, Paint The City was bred by Spencer Peterson. He is sired by Jess Paint Me and out of the Five Bar Cartel mare High Five City. He now has a record of 17-6-4-2 with earnings of $27,355. Last season, Paint The City finished second in the Elko County Fair Derby.

Triple D Governor and The Rev Rocker dead-heated for third, with both completing the distance in :19.939 for a 92 speed index.

Triple D Governor, ridden by Oscar Cervantes, drifted out during the race before securing his share of third. Owned and trained by Humberto Ramirez, the five-year-old gelding was bred by Christopher Langkilde. He is sired by Triple C Chocolate and out of the Heza Motor Scooter mare Onefastlady. Triple D Governor now has a record of 19-5-3-3 with earnings of $72,777 and was a finalist in the Mark T Bars Stakes last year.

Luis Zapien Jr. rode The Rev Rocker for owner Luis Gonzalez and trainer Abelardo Gonzalez. The six-year-old gelding chased throughout but was unable to gain on the leaders. Bred by Debra Laney, he is sired by A Revenant and out of the First Moonflash mare Mitey Moon. The Rev Rocker now has a record of 19-5-3-5 with earnings of $71,194. He won the Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge in 2022.

Fire Of The Mountain finished fifth, followed by Katies Boy Joe.
