The Odds Were In Favor Of Good Bet Winning Today In The Idaho Bred QH Futurity
BLACKFOOT, ID–SEPTEMBER 1, 2024–After placing third in every stakes competition this year, Good Bet finally gets his moment to shine after winning the Idaho Bred Quarter Horse Futurity (not black type) at the Eastern Idaho State Fair on Sunday.
Good Bet placed third in the Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational, Idaho Cup Futurity, and Ocean Wave Futurity earlier this season. The son of Louisiana Cartel has two wins from six starts, and the $4,125 payday from today's 350-yard stakes race increased his earnings to $13,916.
Jockey Jesus Virgen piloted Good Bet to the wire in 17.741 seconds, clocking his all-time best speed index of 101. The post-time favorite's winning effort paid $4.20 on 7-2 odds.
The black colt defeated Sheknowsshesmokn, ridden by Jesus Flores, who placed second, and M E Closing Time, with Eric Ayala in the irons, ran third. With Oscar Villa aboard, Lm Concords Secret completed the order of finish in fourth.
Breeder Bryon Goody owns Good Bet in partnership with RTM Stables, LLC. The son of The Louisiana Cartel is trained by Mark Hanson and out of Mothers Favorite by Favorite Cartel.
Trainer Glen Jamison conditions runner-up Sheknowsshesmokn for owner-breeder Edward Jamison. The stakes-winning daughter of Daguerre has a record of 2-3-2 from eight starts with $14,324 in the bank. She is out of the Jumpn mare Smokn Mirrors.
Jarrett Mills trains Grade 3 finalist M E Closing Time for owners-breeders Dave Merritt and Kim Newman. The winning daughter of Ec Jet One has earned $11,057. She is out of Kool Sweet Jess by One Sweet Jess.
The fourth-place finisher, Lm Concords Secret, is bred and owned by Dorian Montero. Trained by Martin Vega, the daughter of Concorde's Appeal has two wins with $7,403 in the bank. She is out of Secret Noble by No Secrets Here.
