Offspring of Tf Im That Guy swept the two VBA Open stakes (not black type) at Fort Pierre on Saturday, with Im Jess That Guy capturing the $11,250 VBA Open QH Futurity and Im Jessa Diva prevailing in the $7,000 VBA Open QH Derby.

Im Jess That Guy Holds On In VBA Open QH Futurity

Im Jess That Guy held off See U Next Tuesday by a head to capture the $11,250 VBA Open QH Futurity, completing 250 yards in 13.537 seconds for a 90 speed index over a good track. The race was contested with a 10-mph tailwind.

Brandon Mendez Guevara rode Im Jess That Guy for trainer Brenda Guzman and owner Donaldo Hermosillo. The 2-year-old sorrel colt earned $5,512 for the victory.

Bred in New Mexico by Mike G Parker, Im Jess That Guy is by Tf Im That Guy out of Jess Livin the Dream, by Jesse James Jr. He was a $5,000 RNA at the 2025 Ruidoso New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale.

See U Next Tuesday was a head back in second, earning $2,813 for owner Casey J. Foster and trainer Robert Don Johnson. Kody Kellenberger rode the 2-year-old daughter of This Is An Eagle out of I Cant Help It, by Corona Cartel. Bred by Andy Knight, See U Next Tuesday was a $12,000 graduate of the 2025 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.

Jess Seaside finished another nose back in third and earned $1,350 for owner Double Down Racing and trainer Robert Don Johnson. Brayan Juarez rode the Mr Jess Perry filly out of Seaside, by First Down Dash. Bred by Grant Farms LLC, Jess Seaside was a $32,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Im Jessa Diva Wins VBA Open QH Derby By A Nose

Im Jessa Diva completed the stakes double for sire Tf Im That Guy when she fought off Whose Da Boss to win the $7,000 VBA Open QH Derby by a nose.

Ridden by Larren Delorme, Im Jessa Diva covered the 250 yards in 13.375 seconds for a 96 speed index over a good racing surface. She raced three wide, dueled, and held on at the wire.

Trainer Robert Don Johnson saddled Im Jessa Diva for owner-breeder Valerie Shoun. The 3-year-old sorrel filly, bred in South Dakota, is by Tf Im That Guy out of Jess Dizzy Lizzy, by Jess Eye. She earned $3,430 for the victory.

Whose Da Boss earned $1,750 for his runner-up effort. Brayan Juarez rode the Freighttrain B gelding for owner-breeder Billy Buchholz and trainer Robert Don Johnson. Whose Da Boss is out of Dynasty Time, by FDDDynasty.

Bv Darling Marfa finished three-quarters of a length behind Whose Da Boss in third, earning $840. Kody Kellenberger rode the daughter of The Marfa Lights for owner Kirk Fasthorse and trainer Robert Don Johnson. Bred by Bella Vista Farms LLC, Bv Darling Marfa is out of Pyc Darlin, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. She was a $16,000 purchase at the 2024 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.

Also-rans were You Stol My Heart and Regally Valiant. The VBA Open QH Derby was also contested with a 10-mph tailwind over a good track.
