MALAD CITY, ID–JULY 27, 2025–A trio of 300-yard trials were held Saturday at the Oneida County Fairgrounds in Malad City, Idaho, to determine the eight fastest qualifiers for the $10,000-added Oneida County Fair All Breed Derby final set for Sunday, August 10.
From a strong field of three-year-olds, Tempting Look posted the fastest qualifying time of the day with a sharp effort in the final trial.
Racing for owner Adrian Aleman, Tempting Look broke alertly under jockey Jose Espinoza and held off a late surge to win by a neck, stopping the clock in a swift 15.598 over a fast track with a 7-mph crosswind.
The Jorge Paredes trainee is a sorrel colt by champion Tempting Dash, out of Righteous Look by Righteous Brother, and was bred in Utah by Carolyn and Jose Adrian Aleman. The performance earned Tempting Look a 92 speed index and marked him as the one to beat heading into the August 10 final.
Multiple stakes-placed Tempting Look entered the trials off a third-place finish in the Adequan Grants Pass Derby Challenge in his last start July 5. He earned $40,081 in 16 career starts.
Finishing in a dead heat for second in the same trial were the second-fastest qualifiers Sheknowsshepunky and Remembered Well, who both recorded times of 15.637.

Bred in Oklahoma by Thomas Bradbury and Vaughn Cook, the $35,000 Heitage Place Yearling Sale purchase is trained by David Newbold and ridden by Nick Newbold. Like Sheknowsshepunky, he posted a 91 speed index in a steady duel to the wire.
In the first trial of the day, M E Mitzy powered to a solid gate-to-wire score under jockey Eric Ayala, posting a time of 15.675, which secured her a spot among the top qualifiers.
The Idaho-bred filly by champion Thoroughbred Sprinter Mitole out of M E Five Bar Dilly by Five Bar Cartel was bred and is owned by David B. Merritt, and trained by Jarrett Mills. She defeated Sheknowsshesmokn and A Lethal Favorite in a well-contested heat, earning an 89 speed index as the fourth fastest qualifier
The second trial was won by El Treen, who recorded a time of 15.800 while flying from the outside post under Jose Espinoza, notching the seventh qualifying berth for owner-trainer Adrian Aleman.
The brown colt by Freighttrain B, out of After Party by One Famous Eagle, was bred in Utah by Aleman and is trained by Jorge Paredes. El Treen held off A Jazzy Tres Seis in a driving finish.
