Tachatyme, Pevs Jess Eye Candy Elevated To Dead-Heat Victory In Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity Consolation

Tachatyme and Pevs Jess Eye Candy were elevated to a dead-heat victory in Saturday's $25,000 Sweetwater Downs QH Futurity Consolation after the original winner, B Bar James, was disqualified and placed last for interfering with rivals.

The 350-yard consolation for 2-year-olds produced an unusual finish when B Bar James crossed the wire first in :17.679 but was disqualified following a jockey's objection and stewards' review. The stewards determined B Bar James had impeded rivals and moved him from first to eighth.

That decision elevated Tachatyme and Pevs Jess Eye Candy, who had hit the wire together, into a dead heat for first. The pair were officially timed in :17.732, earning an 86 speed index over a fast racing surface. Each earned $9,375 from the $25,000 purse.

Tachatyme, ridden by Brayan Juarez for trainer Kylie Valenzuela, races for owner Chris Nebeker. RM Stables LLC/Chris Nebeker bred the sorrel daughter of leading second-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha from All Tyme High, by Moonin The Eagle.

Saturday's victory improved Tachatyme's career record to three wins from five starts with earnings of $15,985. She entered the race with two wins from four starts.

Pevs Jess Eye Candy, with Jacob Cardenas aboard for trainer Jess R. Matt, shared the victory for owner Eddie Jensen. Gordon or Jackie Pevehouse bred the gray gelding in Oklahoma from Pyc Eye Candy, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. He is a son of multiple stakes sire Phq Apollitical Jess.

A $10,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, Pevs Jess Eye Candy recorded his first career victory Saturday. He has now compiled a record of 1-0-4 from seven starts and earned $14,200.

Woody 123 was elevated to third, finishing a neck behind the dead-heat winners and earning $2,500 for owner and breeder W3 Farms LLC. Jesus J. Canales rode the colt for trainer Sergio Canales.

The bay son of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 is out of Pipers Tune, by Bono Jazz. Woody 123 has now earned $18,956 from five starts, with one win and three third-place finishes. He was a finalist in the 307 Horse Racing QH Futurity.

Also-rans, in official order following the disqualification, were Miss Dashin Hocks, Lilys Saint, Hill County Cowgirl, Fired Up Again, B Bar James, Perikina, and Dangerous Foose. B Bar James was disqualified from first and placed.
