Tachas Secret Captures $111,200 Indiana Championship For Second Consecutive Stakes Victory

Tachas Secret continued her winning ways Saturday afternoon at Horseshoe Indianapolis, capturing the $111,200 Indiana Championship Stakes by a neck for her second consecutive stakes victory.

Ridden by Fernando Morin, the 6-year-old mare completed the 440 yards in 21.758 seconds, earning a 91 speed index. Tachas Secret took command early and maintained a narrow advantage throughout, holding off a determined challenge from Kelli Girl to secure the victory.

Owned by Marla K. Robinson Family Trust and Duke Racing, Tachas Secret was bred and trained by Ricardo Martinez. The Indiana-bred mare is sired by Habits Secret and out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Sin Tachas Angel.

The victory improved Tachas Secret's career record to 31-16-6-2, and the $61,160 winner's share of the purse pushed her total earnings to $703,402. Coming off a victory in the Hoosier Park Classic Stakes, she also captured the Bradford Stakes and Born Runner Classic Stakes earlier this season. The accomplished mare has eight additional stakes victories to her credit.

Kelli Girl finished second, a neck behind the winner, under jockey Luis Luna Diaz. The 4-year-old filly remained prominent throughout the race and held the runner-up position by three-quarters of a length.

Owned and trained by Claudio Barraza, Kelli Girl was bred by Ted Abrams and is a $17,000 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale graduate. The daughter of Tempting Dash is out of the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Jess A Classy Lassy. She is a half-sister to two-time World Champion Jessies First Down ($1,599,502).

Coming off a victory in the Horseshoe Indianapolis Distaff Challenge, Kelli Girl now has a career record of 14-4-4-0 with $88,407 in earnings. She also captured last year's AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1).

Ap Miss Lunas Tide finished third under jockey Isidro Banuelos, advancing late to secure the show position, three-quarters of a length behind Kelli Girl.

The 5-year-old mare is bred, owned, and trained by Oscar Preciado. She is sired by Rip Tide and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Ready Too Wear.

Ap Miss Lunas Tide now has a career record of 29-7-5-3 with $208,153 in earnings. Earlier this season, she captured the Horseshoe Indianapolis Classic Stakes.
