BURLEY, ID–AUGUST 17, 2024–Sheknowsshesmokn, ridden by Jesus Flores, wins the $5,600 Cassia County Fair Quarter Horse Futurity (not black type) on Saturday over the favorite M E Closing Time.

Sheknowsshesmokn led from gate to wire from a field of four fillies and finished a 1/2-length ahead of M E Closing Time and rider Eric Ayala. Shezappealing, ridden by Oscar Villa, followed in for third 4 1/4 lengths back, and Gokatigo finished fourth, with Luis Roche in the irons.

Sheknowsshesmokn clocked a 93-speed index, assisted by a ten-mph tailwind, and crossed the wire in 13.376 seconds. The 250-yard effort paid $5.20 to win.

Trained by Glen Jamison, Sheknowsshesmokn started the season at Pocatello Downs, where she was a finalist in the Idaho Cup Futurity. She placed third in the Denny Weight Overnight Futurity at Jerome, then returned to Pocatello Downs in July, where she broke her maiden. The daughter of Daguerre went on to place third in the Oneida County Futurity earlier in August.

Sheknowsshesmokn has lit the board six of seven starts with two career wins, and the $3,360 paycheck from the Futurity increased her earnings to $12,449 for owner-breeder Edward Jamison. She is out of the Jumpn mare Smokn Mirrors.

Trainer Jarrett Mills saddled runner-up M E Closing Time for owners-breeders Dave Merritt and Kim Newman. The daughter of Ec Jet One has a record of 1-3-2 from seven starts and $9,932 in the bank. She is out of the One Sweet Jess mare Kool Sweet Jess.

Shezappealing broke her maiden in her first of four starts but has yet to win again. Vicente Treyes Valencia bred and owns the daughter of Concorde's Appeal. The Martin Vega trained filly is out of Shez Sterling Silver by Separatist.

Gokatigo has one win from six starts for owner-trainer Gilberto Madrigal. The daughter of Concorde's Appeal was bred by Lararo Arreola out of Tellmyjosefa by Never Tell.
